Would you trade a 116610ln for a SD4k

I will obviously have to add a little cash but the sea dweller is newer. Both are complete sets and under factory warranty. I was going to add the SD43 to the sub but now I’m thinking of trading up to the SD4K adding the SD43 next then eventually adding back a 116610ln (which will be the cheapest and hoping, eventually, the easiest to acquire)

Would you make the swap? Deal has not been finalized but i bought the sub used 2 + years ago for a damn good price and am hoping to add +/- $4,000 on top for the SD4K.

Sure - I’d swap a Sub for a SD - but not for $4k additional cash.

I’d just hold off and add a SD.

Absolutely, from the sounds of it, you are coming out on top no matter what...the 116600 is an absolutely beautiful reference and the last of the 5 digit aesthetics...so assuming condition is equal, you ha e to put an additional $4k down on top of your Sub, so let’s say they’re giving you $6k for yours, plus the additional $4k...sounds like you’re getting a pretty damn solid deal on the 116600....I would do it and not look back ever again

I agree with Roger

Why not wait for the SD43? Sounds like ultimately you wish to land on Sub date and SD43

I'd do it in a heartbeat for $3k, but I'd test the waters for $4k. You wouldn't do a whole lot better for the sale of your LN if you went through the hassle of selling your watch on your own, but if you went that route you could probably get a nicer SD4K between the sale of your LN+$4K. If it were me, I'd contact every FSOT SD4K in the same or better condition and set the watermark that way. From there I'd take the best offer and knock $500 off that from the seller you're chatting with now and see. If he won't budge or beat it, I'd take that cheapest offer. Even if this current seller matches the best offer, I would go the other route for the effort of the other seller for getting to that lowest price. The current seller would have to beat it. Period. You can't have any sort of negotiation if you don't have leverage.

I would. But I would not reacquire a 116610LN, I would get some variety and get an LV. Those are too similar in my opinion.

Not me... I prefer the submariner's subtleness. It's a more classy piece imo.

That seems like a pretty good idea to me as long as you feel the deals right.

I not only would, but I did....about 3 years ago now...and couldn’t be happier! If it were up to me my Hulk would also have the same dimensions as my SDC4K as well!

Yes

IMHO the SD4k is the best dive watch ever made.
It’s the only Rolex diver I own.
There are no other Rolex dive watches I would rather have in the history of Rolex dive watches.

I wouldn’t. I’d put the $4k towards the SD43 or something else.

Sounds like your ultimate goal is the sd43, might as well go straight to that..sd43 has the new movement too

Having thought this through a bit further, I’m not sure I would, were I in your shoes though!

Technically, mine was really no additional cash...I just liked the watch dimensions and subtle feature differences better than the 116610LN, and at that time I paid well under $8K BNIB for the SDC. It’s funny, but this watch, like my Hulk, were watches that started out with very little public acceptance, heavy discounting! The SDC4K was technically added to a collection of other Subs...and once I realized the honeymoon simply never wore off, it stayed and the LN went

As for the SD43 I’ve tried on several times...and although I really like it, no way it’s could ever replace my SDC4K as my daily beater so to speak!

Either way, only you can decide what makes the most sense for you!

Make sure you try it on first, I found it sat a lot higher on the wrist than my SubC , not sure I’d pay an extra 4K

Appreciate all the thoughts and opinions.

Yesterday when i started this thread i might have been a little caught up in the moment and thought of getting something new and different. After a night to sleep on it I’m thinking 4K on top of the sub might be a little too much.

I’m thinking I’ll just wait and add the SD43.
