I was contemplating the same thing last year but I pulled the trigger on the YM. The more I look at the black shield, the more I feel I made the right choice. I still have an urge for a black ceramic watch that's been festering for some time now and I think I'm going to pull the trigger next year on a Dark Side of the Moon.

I did get the YM first though, absolutely no regrets whatsoever.

Plus as far as affordability goes, I may consider attempting to buy a pre-owned one. My father's first few Rolexes were pre-owned before he started buying them new from ADs, so I suppose that could be an option.

A friend of mine picked up a blue dial YM a few months ago on vacation and I have to say it is a gorgeous watch.

You won't regret it. The way I see it graduating college is a life milestone so get a watch that reflects that.

And BTW, congratulations on saving enough for a Rolex as a college kid. Most kids blow it on beer in those years and end up literally pissing it away.

Yacht-Master with the blue dial (or platinum). The YM is one of the most underated Rolex watches out there, but personally, I love the YM (have the one with the platinum dial). This watch will last you a lifetime with its classic and timeless look. Ideal for sporting activites and dress activities.

Of the two listed definitely the YM; personally I'd go for something with a ceramic bezel personally.

YM all the way. It's a beauty, and nothing to do with Tudor vs Rolex.
If you'd said heritage chrono vs YM, I'd have tougher time choosing!

I was in a similar situation when I was in college. Sub Date vs Tag. I asked and everyone kept telling me to get what I thought would make me happier and that I wouldn't want to trade away after a few months. A timeless classic, they all say. That's exactly what I did 6 years ago and got the Sub Date. Now I've upgraded to the Hulk--classic but with a twist. Needless to say, I went with the timeless classic and didn't look back.

Get the YM, you won't regret it. Like my LVC, it's a twist on a classic, but it's beautiful.

I actually just bought a YG blue Subc but a few months ago I tried on the TT Bluesy and the YM blue and I must admit I was actually more impressed with the YM, now maybe I was just shocked at how nice it really was or maybe I was drunk but it really impressed me, just a great watch so hope you get one soon.

Between the two, I would go for the YM. I wish I bought a nice Rolex after graduating college instead of buying a motorcycle...on second thought, I had a lot of fun on that bike.
