Comments on this 5513
Hi Everyone,
Like many of us here, I am bitten by the vintage bug and 5513 is definitely on my radar screen. I come across this piece that is currently on sale and would greatly appreciate if I can be provided with comments. With permission from the seller, I am posting photos of the watch to gather comments. I have looked at many photos in the internet. What is bothering me are the followings: 1) The hour, minute and second hands appear to be replaced at some point in time. But are these hands genuine? 2) The "Swiss - T < 25" wordings are not kissing near the 28th and the 32nd minute markers. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for the comments |

This appears to be a Non-Serif feet first 5513, circa 1969-1970.

Hi, I am about as new to this as you are, so take no comments as expert or even advanced. I do notice a difference on the Swiss T-marking from mine 1967 meters first, and that is that it replaces two minute markers less than on mine. See pictures in my thread (sorry for not lincluding link, don't know yet how to include one). This may very well be correct, so I only mean to point out the difference. good luck!

The watch looks okay to me except for the hands which may have been replaced during a routine service at Rolex. The dial has a very lovely patina which is a great plus but as far as I know also, the SWISS T<25 should cover 5 minute tracks and this one does not so proceed with caution.

What's the beginning of the serial number? What's the asking price? Hands definitely replaced, which is a shame because the dial patina is super nice, so matching hands would've been especially cool. Can't tell much about the case because of the photos, but it seems it's been polished a couple of times. I'll agree that the "swiss ..." marking looks a little odd, but not sure what it means. Depending on the price, I'd probably keep looking, mainly based on the non-matching hands. You'd have a lot of trouble finding a set that matches the dial patina, if you were to replace them. Good luck either way.

Thank you very much for all the comments. It is extremely helpful.
Mr. H, I saw your great 5513 and it conforms to the "Swiss-T < 25" wordings almost kissing the markers. As mentioned and pointed out by everyone, the "Swiss-T<25" wordings look out of place. Notice the smaller font and the gaps in between the markers. I have been searching over many images in the internet and can't seem to find any that resembles this dial. Just wonder if anyone had came across this dial? 1) Is this a misprint by Rolex and without doubt a genuine dial? 2) Is this a service dial? 3) A re-dial? Appreciate if anyone has any idea. Thanks in advance |

I can live with the hands being replaced but are genuine Rolex hands as long as the price reflects this. I do like the patina too but need to confirm on the "Swiss" markings.

The top of the Swiss-marking characters are not "flushing" with the top of the minute markers in a nice circular flow too. Another red flag?

Browse thru the dial archive for 5513's at VRF and see if you can find a matching dial-
http://www.network54.com/Forum/539572 If you can, then yours is most likely OK. |

Hi Seattleal,
Thanks for the link. I will try to locate a matching dial as per your suggestion. Thanks. |
