Rolex in car accident stoped working (Bay Area watch repair)

Hi,

I purchased a 31mm DJ watch for my wife from a trusted seller from this website. My wife was in a car accident a few months ago and broke her left arm. She stopped wearing the watch(because of cast)so we didn't realize that it possibly had broke in the accident. I will wind the watch and it doesn't sweep. Are there any reputable dealers in the Bay Area where I can have this fixed? I'm just very concerned taking it to anyone since I'm hearing a lot about part swapping. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks guys

Does anyone know of any trusted Bay Area places that can repair the watch?

Sorry to hear of your wife's accident; I hope she's better now.

For watch services in the SFBA, I would go with Giovanni at 210 Post St, Ste 705 in San Francisco. I've personally been there and spoken with him and his staff, they appear very knowledgeable and I never received anything short of excellent service. It also has a 5 star rating on Yelp.

Rolexes are not terribly good about shock resistance. My 1965 GMT was worn by my brother in Vietnam after he first got it. It stopped during a mortar attack that nearly got him. He had to have a Rolex repair shop take care of it while he was on R&R. Lots of people on this forum swear by Vanessa who is on this forum. I sent her one of my 16600's and she is servicing it now. She is at J.O.T. in Newport Beach. You can contact her on this forum.

Very unlikely from shock damage. I'd say a de-centered hairspring and maybe even damaged balance pivots.

Sent it to Vanessa at Jewelers on Time in Newport beach, CA.

I would be careful, there ARE plenty of "Rolex" advertised watch repair in that building, different floors.

Giovanni is on the 7th floor and as of late has an official "Independent Rolex Service Center" designation, not because of him but ROLEX HQ. Giovanni and his techs are outstanding and true WIS Rolex people, they will take good care of you.

But...if you get off the elevator on the wrong floor, you may just wander into some other Rolex Authorized repair guy..

I hope your wife's arm is recovering fully!
If there's car insurance involved, make sure you get the estimate approved by them first, they may want a second quote. Best of luck.
