Legit Explorer 1016?

Hi, have seen this Explorer, but have a few concerns. The 1016 between the lugs looks a bit off to me. Not sure about the inside of the case back either. Any views appreciated. Thanks.

The 1016 is not a bit off, it is really off....!
Bad enough to stay away from it.

You need better photos.

Having said that, 1016 looks proper for a 1969 as does the caseback. Engravings look OK. Would feel more comfortable with better and more images of engravings

Dial fonts, on quick inspection of poor photos, also look OK. You really need better photos.

Just my 2 cents..I would never touch a watch with those falsified or very badly re-engraved numbers for gold...

If the serial number is also like that, then I suspect your purchase is just a movement, caseback and dial...?

Definitely need more pics. Engravings look off to me. Two things that immediately jump out at me is the 0 and how the 6 appeares to not be in line with the other numbers

Rolex numbers were often shaky, imperfect or misaligned.

I'd be more suspicious if the engraving was perfect.

I would recommend that you obtain some real camera photos and place them here. These phone camera pics never really help anyone answer questions properly. These are very poor quality photos of this 1016.

Nothing wrong with those engravings. They are original to the watch.

I'm not sure what happened in the intervening 2 months between the OP's original post and now...since it was just revived yesterday.

But i agree with the others that poor pictures can only lead to guesswork at this stage.

Thank guys. I passed on it as I didn't like the case engravings, maybe wrongly. Too late now!
