Rolex Daytona 16520 Mk2 4lines black dial

Hi All,

I'm completely new to the group here but as I have just purchased a Rolex 16520 Mk2 4 lines L series 3xxxxx Black dial from a second hand watch shop, I do hope to receive some comments from the professionals here in regard to the few questions that I have after taking the watch home....THX everyone!!!

My 16520 is in mint condition, beautiful 4 lines MK2 L series 3xxxxx but I am a bit in doubt with the bezel. It is a 200 (like Mk1) instead of a 225. Can anyone tell me if a 200 bezel do exist in a MK2 4 lines L series? Or this must have be changed by the previous owner. However why putting a Mk1 bezel as it's also costly too if my assumption is correct. Also how can I identify this is a real original 200 bezel?

My second question is how can I tell the dial is original too? Although I am not suspecting the dial to be fake, I just hope to get more information on indentifying a real original Mk2 black dial.

Thanks so much, group for helping!
All the best!!!
Daytona Fan

Hi and Welcome but your best way to get help and advice on such a subject would be to post some clear pictures

The dial is Mark 2 the case L series and bezel are Mk 1. I woudlnt worry about it as there are always crossovers with rolex. I.E they had an L case and MK1 bezel still 'in stock 'whilst producing the MK 2 Dial. They just used what they had.

I woudl not worry
enjoy that nice watch!

Thanks so much Chris.
But I just couldn't understand why there aren't so much like this type of crossovers in the market. Will people consider this as not original? Will such a crossover having a higher market value when compare with those MK2 dial Mk2 bezel?

Thx

I agree with Toph. As long as it has a 78360 bracelet it looks fine. I don't think the crossover affects the value. Cool watch. Enjoy it.

I really like Ben and I've bought from him before with good results. But his 4 liner (the black one) he recently listed has the wrong bracelet.

But it still looks really good!

An original 4-lines dial it's work at least 2-3K USD. Rolex won't sell it to you, you have to look for it on the net, for example here on TRF in the classified sections or on the Vintage Rolex Market

I have an Black S serial 16520 that I bought new in 1993 that has a 4 line dial. So I agree there was a lot of crossover use of parts as the transitions were happening. I've read about and seen many other examples of later original Daytonas with 4 line dials.
