New guy introduction with pics
Hello,
I've been lurking for a while and recently registered. Thought I would introduce myself and share my meager collection (along with some details) with the group. My name is Don and I live in SC. I don't consider myself a collector. As you will see I'm not much of a photographer either. I have my watches serviced by Rolex as needed. They are all 100% genuine Rolex with no aftermarket parts. My SS Datejust model 16030 was a gift from my late father. I received it new in 1989 for my birthday. I have worn it regularly since. I love it for many reasons. It is very comfortable. My only dislike is the acrylic crystal the mean old Rolex people won't let me change. I seem to have a habit of hitting my watch on thing and the crystal scratches easily. Not sure of the date of mfg as my service papers list a # only. I inherited my SS/Gold Datejust model 1601/34 when my father passed away in 2010. Actually my mother put it in my stocking for Christmas. He passed away days before Thanksgiving. He wore it daily and the band was worn out. I sent it off this summer and had it gone trough and bought a new Rolex band (ouch!). While a used watch could have been purchased for less than the repair this watch is priceless to me. I've only worn it once as I'm not really a gold guy. I'm going to try to wear it more and he would want me to. I am not sure the date of mfg as the service papers only list a #. I do know he bought it new in the 60's or 70's for a few hundred dollars. Lastly, my Submariner model 14060 I purchased new a week or two ago. While I won't bore you further with details of my life or challanges it is a "milestone" watch I purchased for myself. The local AD had this watch, the newer ceramic version and the ceramic with date model in stock. I preferred the look of the no date and I liked the older case and bezel style better too. Easy decision for me. Thanks for reading and looking- Here are some pics. |

Welcome Don, SC is one of my favorite places to go in the winter time from our home in central Pa. You have a very clean collection. Rolex watches and milestones in life should go hand in hand. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome excellent collection of Rolexes.
14060 one of my fav Rolex ,just wondering what was your reason to chose this one over the ceramic or other date models?

Didn't care for the case on the newer ceramic dial models. They were still great looking watches just seemed to have more bulk when compared side by side. There were some obvious case differences. All laid out side by side the one I bought just looked the best to me. I like the clean look of the no date model. If I don't know the date my iPhone always does! I started liking the no date models several years ago when I bought my former wife a no date ladies two tone with jubille bracelet, fluted bezel and white dial. As soon as I saw the watch I knew it was the one. Took me a minute to realize the reason it looked so good to me was b/c it had no date.
