Rolex Luminova Service Dials

Questions:

1. What vintage Submariner models can Rolex currently provide a luminova replacement dial for...at a regular service?

2. Can Rolex also provide a Chromalight Blue replacement dial for these models?

Thanks.

Might be better to ask this in the vintage forum, but maybe someone here will chime in. I'm interested to see an answer to this too. Cheers!

I doubt they would go back farther than the 5512/13. The 13 would have WG surrounds as that was the last dial issued. 1680s would be matt sans surrounds.

I'll guess they still use superluminova as that was the last used.

Since the 5512 was never issued with a WG surround dial it would be matt with luminova plots.

White 1680 has a luminova service dial w/o WG surrounds.
Red 1680s do have luminova service dials w/ red lettering and w/o WG surrounds, but RSC sometimes denies its existence.

1680s also have service dials that are tritium marked dials that are actually luminova.

One of the current new versions of the Rolex Yacht-Master has "Yacht-Master" printed in red on the dial. It's a pretty nice looking watch. I wonder why Rolex doesn't currently produce Submariner's with a version in red. They would sell a lot more probably.

Do they have Red service dials marked with the Swiss- T < 25? I've come across a few red subs that appear to have service dials yet they aren't marked only Swiss?

If rolex thought putting a tiny but of red writing on the dial would increase sales.., guess what .. They'd do it.

Toph, what you say would and should and does make perfect sense. But (there's always a but) I'm not sure how responsive Rolex has been to the whims of its most enthusiastic consumers. Like the people on this and other forums.

The new SD 4000 and 42mm Exp 2s may (or may not) indicate a turning point in Rolex marketing. Also, the Tudor Heritage series. For years people on this and other watch forums have clamored in unison for some of those vintage features to be brought back. And until the above mentioned, nothing. Of course only Rolex knows how well each model sells, worldwide. And they do want to improve sales. So we may really be a tiny minority. But they have been very slow producing what their most loyal consumers and fans have actually asked for.

That's also true. I am sure some of us, that follow rolex closely, would be very keen to see a slight variation on the Sub like you mentioned. On the other hand, to the majority, it wouldn't matter one iota in my opinion. The white is more refined and smarter on the current steel black sub.
Some of these vintage features are nice, especially because they stand out, but also there is a romanticism of having something that others can't.
Unfortunately the most loyal fans, in the eyes of rolex, are those that spend the most money.. Same with everything in life to an extent.
For example 1 platinum Daytona is about 10 submariners. C'est la vie
Then again they updated the DD and DJ lines and I think they have been the biggest success.
