The Leica Q takes some amazing macro shots for a 28mm lens. Don't forget because of the raw image size you can crop these and get some amazing closeups. Great shot!

for a wide angle fixed lens camera, the Leica Q is capable of some impressive macro shots. Here are a few I took when it first arrived back in July.

Great shots. Autavia is one of my favourites, I'm looking for a Montreal to complete my little Heuer collection. Q looks like a really good package overall but how are you finding having a fixed 28? Btw I'm an M user and most often have the 50 on the camera. Leica has finally joined the digital age that's for sure, but still on their terms.

I have am M240 and MM and have been shooting Leica M for 30+ years...the Q is IMO the best fixed lens compact ever produced. The 28mm can be limiting, but its also liberating. It makes you focus on the craft. Since the Q arrived my poor M bodies have seen limited action.

Beautiful pics, is the Q a Rangefinder like the M series?

yes it has a macro function, but its a 28mm lens so the macro isn't a true macro.

Oky thanks, was wondering how it manages macro. My Sony A7S mirrorless with a Zeiss 55mm is very bad at close focussing (think min distance is something like over 1 mtr) though produces stunning distance images. I did recently get a macro tube lens attachment to be able to focus closer for macro, have to try it out.

The lens is close focus to begin with- less than a foot, but it also has a macro mode that allows you to get less than 6". The only issue is thats its 28mm lens.

But the full frame sensor allows for very nice crops. Most of my images are cropped.
