5513 Advice
Hi guys,
I am looking at purchasing my first Vintage Rolex and I am going for the 5513. I have been looking for a while now but wanted to have some advice. I am buying from the UK and found the one below: http://watchesofdistinction.com/?pro...iner-5513-1968 What are your thoughts on the watch? Has anyone bought from Watches of Distinction, or can anyone recommend any UK dealers? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Marcus |

Are those red marks on the dial or just reflections: have you examined the watch in person?

I'm yet to see the watch in person, I've just been looking around online currently.
They look like reflections but difficult to tell from one photo. Marcus |

Looks OK. Hard to give much feedback on just a few pictures. Couple things stand out to me. Looks like the case may have been recently worked on. Bevels and brush look brand new. Lugs still have some meat on them though. Crown guards look very pointy. Could be the angle but I would ask for a straight on shot of the crown. If so this combined with the work on the rest of the case would indicate some over polishing. Really depends on what you are after and your budget. My 1675 case was refinished and the lugs are a little thin, but I really liked the watch overall so bought it anyways.

If it is a 1968 shouldn't it have a meters first dial? I'm pretty sure it was close to 1970 that they switched to a feet first dial and if that is so it would mean this watch has a service/replaced dial.

Serial number is needed because the dial is a (very nice) MK3 MAXI (that sould have approx a 6mil serial - across 1980) but the seller says '68 (approx 1.7 serial)...
Crown and insert are both service.. If serial is correct for the dial the watch look good overall... Personally I love 5513 MAXI (and the MK3 specially).. the price is even right in my opinion |

Thanks guys, I have emailed the seller for the serial number, so if/when I get some feedback I will pass on.
Appreciate the feedback! |
