My fourth was a black 16570, and now it's my only, so I guess I'd just buy that first and be done with it.

If I could do it all over, I would have bought my Submariner LVC as my first and only.

I started fifteen years ago with a GMT 16710 still have love this watch, stay in my collection.I think I did well, now with more understanding and knowledge. In the six digits series I will go for an 214270 or a Sea Dweller 116600 and I like too the GMT models.

Same here but sooner...

If I had it to do again would get the same two, three actually counting my wife's DJ, that I have but seven years sooner than I did.

On second thought, the reason I didn't pull the trigger then was the purchase of an engagement ring and that has worked out wonderfully so, not wanting to get "Monkey's Pawed", I would leave things as is.

Been happily with my wife since 2000, married fourteen years, and the watches eventually made their way to us...

I went with an A-serial 16570 Polar for my first Rolex in mid 2014. Should have went for a near-mint 14060m 4-line with open papers on hindsight, which would have been easier to obtain during those times.

I would go straight to PM and not look back. If I think of all the money I lost getting there, I could have another PM watch in my collection!

Probably a Daytona to do it over but I really wasn't in to them then and the GMT2 was still a good choice and still in my stable.

My first was a DSSD, and I probably would have started out with a Sub if I were to do it again. But it would have been a mistake because I'm trading my DSSD for a Pepsi GMT now and that's the one I really want. So it worked out in the end even if I would have done it differently. My first purchase was a little aggressive.

I would go with New old stock 16610 Sub or 16710 Pepsi.

It took me four years to get it the Sub.

Bought a SS DJ, silver dial, jubilee, about 25 years ago, wish I had bought a sub C.

Got one now though, and retired the DJ. All good.

My Pepsi GMT. Had to start with that without even realising I would add more to the stable at that point.
If I lived it again, it would still be the same.

Great thread! I think I would have splurged at the time and bought my Daytona. Couldn't justify it when I first went looking and got a Sub. Then a Explorer for white dial I was missing then GMT, SD, and DSSD... finally got the Zenith Daytona I wanted and got rid of the others... would have saved a bunch of time and money if I had just bought what I was wanting in the first place and scratched the itch!!

it was a LOOONG time ago (1986)...a pepsi GMT. I would do it again. If i was buying right now as my first I think it would be one of 3 choices. An Exp II (6 digit), a pepsi GMT (5 digit), or a SD. On the used mkt they are around the same px range. GOOD LUCK!!!

Bought a two tone gold and blue Breitling instead of a Sub about 15 years ago. So,the B is still somewhat pretty but only gets a day or two a month.
The B is worth much less than when I purchased it for. The Sub....
Too bad I wasn't on TRF then.
