Rolex Basel 2018

I know we just got done with the waiting and the release of the new models for 2017. For those of you that closely look at the cycles of each model, where do you think Rolex will go next year and what will be introduced? My initial thought would be the Explorer ll but I am far from an expert. Thanks for your thoughts. Stephen

As per every year from various "sources", a SS Coke GMT is definitely coming next Basel...

While I'm not trying to hijack the OPs thread, I still believe without embracing the world of online social media ruled by the Digital Generation ,Rolex risks being shut out of conversations about their products, missing out on opportunities to learn about their customer preferences.

Seems to me lots of folks here really love speculating about future Rolex watches.Hey !That's Cool.No Worries. We really shouldnt be discussing about the state of affairs of the Swiss Watch Industry over the weekends anyway...

I'm the 0ddball Weirdo around here and while I'm still trying to digest this year's Rolex and Omega's Baselworld offerings,my wish is for Rolex to start a revolutionary "restrained" online boutique just before Baselworld 2018....

I don't see the EXP2, as it was just re-designed in 2012 or so...but, you never know.

Annual calendar Cellini (using the Sky-Dweller movement)

The 3235 movement updating the gold / two-tone Subs.

Can't think of anything else they might realistically do.

Many of the sports models have been updated fairly recently, so others like the Day Date 36 and Datejust 36 are due for face lifts, perhaps new movements.

It's for certain that we will eventually start seeing more variations of the 32xx calibre, so perhaps a mostly internal update to the GMT watches like a 3286/7 movement use for both the GMT Master 2 and Explorer 2 (just like last gen movement update for each in 5 digit).

YM is due for 3235 in the coming years.

Sub will be last to change movements to 32xx line. It sells too well and historically updates slowly like the Daytona.

Most room for Rolex to introduce product/updates in the immediate future is the Cellini line. Rolex can capitalize on the industry condition by taking dress watch market share and introducing an annual calendar Cellini(derived from Sky Dweller base), an ultra-complicated Cellini Chronograph (Date/Split Seconds/Annual Calendar/Power Reserve), while undercutting PP, AP, VC, & AL&S.

This is where I expect them to try to move the needle most. Just my opinions*

I have it from a VERY reliable source (he knows an AD) that 2018 is the year Rolex will REALLY listen to us WIS and deliver EVERYTHING we wish for.

Just wait and see...

Perhaps a 2019 Baselword Platinum Coke GMT Master II introduction with brand new calibre 3286 to mark the 65th anniversary?

With bezel font moving back to the classic style numbers

I think we will soon see the 3235 movement in other models, mainly the sub date. This might not happen next year but will almost inevitably happen. When it does, we might also see some minor changes to the sub (nothing drastic) or perhaps a new colour will be released. This will also obviously increase the price significantly.

Hmm what are the oldest and/or worst selling models. I think they'll be updated.

Just guessing, another model will be available on oysterflex (SS yachtmaster? or maybe a diver).

I've been yearning for this California Ranger ever since I saw it on Monochrome.

This is very nice

I would be very interested in an in-house GMT version of the Ranger as well if they ever made it.

I'm calling it now: as a subdued recognition of the retro craze, Rolex will reintroduce jubilee bracelets as a stock option on the GMT Master.

(And if a new GMTc root beer came with it, OMG OMG I would buy one the next day and never look at my BLNR again)

My completely un-educated guess for BW 2018:

- Explorer II on Oysterflex
- Air King dial variation
- 3235 in Deepsea
- PM Daytona Ceramic with full gold bracelet instead of Oysterflex like this year.
- More DJ 41 dials
- Something crazy like the reintroduction of the rectangular Rolex Prince
