Unless you have a personal preference for one style or another, I say go with something classic/iconic as your first Rolex. I'm a huge fan of the GMT Pepsi, but that's my own personal grail watch.
You cannot get more iconic in Rolexes than the Submariner. I like the models with the date. A SS Sub with date will be my next purchase.

BLNR ... unless your going diving more than 100 meters = 330 ft
The GMT BLNR is a killer all rounder for a one and done daily !!!! Note. Not on your list I'd choose the blue sunburst dial Sub C in TT. That's what I have and love it !!! Best wishes on your final decision... |

I'm all about a GMT...classic all around. Inblack definitely has a bit of a Sub feel to it, some people mistake it for one on occasion. Having a second time zone is to me the best complication, along with a date. I use both nearly daily. On the other hand if beach, water and kids are around, maybe the simplest watch would be best, less to break, right. And no 24hr confusion...so that's my second choice and a great watch to is in as you don't have to set the date.

I chose the 114060 because it's my favorite Rolex regardless of price (I also have the LVc and I used to have the BLNR but sold it)

I have both the Submariner Date and the GMT BLNR and I recommend them equally. However, you asked "If it was your one and only Rolex, which would you buy?"
From your 4 choices I voted 114060 If it was me facing the same situation my choice for the one and only would be the humble Explorer 214270 |

One and only would still be my SubC date. Can't get much better than that.

I say you go with a Sub, date or no date. I say if you are used to a date on your watch then go for the date Sub. As for under the radar I think you are okay there who really knows or cares except us anyway. As for me I wear tue Sub no date. I love it and wear it every day. Great collection you have. I expect if the two you will pick the date. I get the impression you like a little more going on on the dial than just what the no date offers, I'd call the date a little bit of bling for you, without flashy colors.

I think for your first, you should go with the 116610. The rest can follow after you find your way as an owner.

I was faced with the same dilemma and chose BLNR as my one and only Rolex. I love the no date sub but glad I chose GMT as I am now strategizing my Hulk purchase. If I had chosen no date sub then I would have ended up with a black and green sub. I think BLNR & Hulk make a better pair.

I'm amazed at how tight the voting is between the SubC date and BLNR! Also a bit surpr See how much the SubC no date is trailing...

Either of the Subs. I prefer the 114060, but also wear a 116613 LB. The modern Sub is really versatile.

114060 you don't need the date when you are on vacation!

Wore my BLNR today, and took a couple of quick shots to post in WRUW thread. Thought I share a couple of them here to help you with your decision. :)

How does anyone choose?
Just tried on the subC date vs no date. I'm not a huge fan of the cyclops (but it's not a deal breaker either), but also thought the no date looked like it was missing something without the cyclops/date. Ugh.... BLNR by default? |

Between the sub date and the BLNR, probably the two most popular watches on TRF. So...there's no real way to make a logical decision. Best just go with your gut.
Gun to head, I would say sub (unless you have need of the GMT function of course), but you're not going to be wrong with either choice. |

I have a BLNR and a sub no date. I love both, I wear the sub the most, you just don't have to worry about it. Sometimes I miss having the date but I love the look of the watch so much more without it. Big fan of the 114060. If you get a BLNR I'm sure you won't be disappointed, but when you discribed the intended use and considering what you already own the ND sub seems to fill the void.
