Patek's craftsmanship is unparalleled but the Aquanaut series has never done anything for me. They remind me of a 1960s tube TV. A very dated look in my opinion.

I've yet to find one at an AD to try on... But I'm actually kinda looking forward to the slim under the radar look, totally opposite of the monstrous D-blue. I don't care for my wrist to be noticed by others.

Flip D-Blue for PP 5167?
I personally don't understand the Aquanaut vibe, the squarish face really doesn't do it for me, but that would rule out the Nautilus too. The thinness and, believe it or not, the display back are things, I like however. If I wanted to spend that type of money and wanted a less intrusive look than the blue, I would go for a Datejust 41, and keep the rest of the money that an Aquanaut would cost to save for something else, but that's just me (I wear a DJ 36mm). Let us know what you decide and post pictures.

I've had both, but I would stick with the Deep Blue - the 5167 wears very small IMHO, however the 324 SC movement is stellar and is the same as the 5711.

It just all boils down to which watch you like better. We can't tell you that.

The Aquanaut is a great comfortable modern watch. The DSSD is a big heavy brute of a watch though I do love the dial and appreciate the technology.
If the price is right for the Aquanaut I would say go for it. A preowned Aquanaut holds its value quite well and would be a good safe swap + some $$. Now if you said you were going to trade a Batman for an Aquanaut...Id say hell no:) |

I tried to love a 5167 but am always felt underwhelmed when I had it on. I would hold out for something else.
The wrist shots of it do look lovely I will add. |

the 5167 is an awesome watch - especially if you change the black strap to the green one.
Extremely comfortable to wear - it couldn't be more different to the DSSD |

Also, keep in mind that you are asking in the Rolex section, not the Patek one...

The Aquanaut is one of my favorite watches from any make, so I'd say yes, although I might go for the smaller 5165 like Paul:

It sounds like you don't have much love for the Dblue so I say go for it, provided you connect with the 5167 when you try it

Try the PP. It wears small. Sounds like that may be ok with you, but worth confirming before moving away from a watch as large as the deep blue |
