Some feel it gives them a better fit. I'm sure the shape of your wrist comes into play as well.
I kept mine on and I've been wearing it for bout a week with no issues.
Watch stays centered on the wrist and gives me a snug fit.

I would suggest #1 removing the divers extension. #2 really make sure it fits the way you want it before walking out. Depending on how many links they remove and on what side of the watch they do it, the watch could seemingly fit but be unbalanced on your wrist (pulls to one side or the other) in which case they could move the link from one side to the other

Remove the extension. Have the store size you up and make sure it is perfect for you. Look over the watch but 99% of the time they do this all day, every day and don't worry about the few that have had issues.

Ask them if they have any extra goodies. Usually they will give you a cool trinkets like a Rolex pocket knife etc.

Enjoy the hell out of your first Rolex. Wear it always and have fun. You will now be sucked in for life.

While they're sizing it see if they will give you a Diet Coke with ice.

Check that nothing is missing before you leave the shop, in the main bag: green tag, warranty booklet, bill of purchase, user manual, warranty booklet, price tag, bezel protector, transparent stickers. Ask them to put the watch in a separate container and put it a a safer place when carrying it on the street.

They'll damage the screws and / or scratch the links if you let them size it for you.

Don't expect discount nor freebies.

1. When walking into the AD check that there's a garbage can outside the door.
2. When leaving be careful not to bang the watch (it's rather large) on the door frame... if so....
3. quickly refer back to step 1

Thanks. I'm next on the list. I'll definitely try and assess straight away if its altering the fit and if it is I'll get them to remove it. Think I will try and leave it on though if I can as, after all, it is designed to be there. Cheers

I just got them to remove mine. It's very wide on the sd43, however it's still on my d blue

Ditto on the divers extension removal. I'm lucky in that it is the only link I needed removed. If you aren't familiar with how to remove links ask to let you watch them do it. And if they do scratch it you'll see it happen and can call them on it immediately.

I'm inexperienced and assumed only my AD could size my new BLNR. Afterward I noticed two big scratches in the polished links where they were working, along with one on the clasp. My heart sank and I didn't wear the watch for two days. I wish I'd read this thread before buying my watch. But I'd already walked out and there was really no recourse. Of course scratches are gonna happen, but I want'me all to be mine!

How long, in general, do most of you go before you live and let live with a new Rolex. When I bought my SS/PL Yachtmaster almost two decades ago I never babied it. I even wore it racing triathlons. But this blnr I seem to be more OCD about.

I know it'll pass, but this GMT is so damned beautiful! Wondering when I'll be able to wear it without obsessing over chance encounters with a rivet in my jeans or the car door.

;-)
