instead of locking bumped oldies, why not delete the posts that bumped them and have the thread go back to its natural chronological spot in the forum?

If we did, somebody would just bump it again..
This way the new poster doesn't lose his post count, we see an oldie-but-goodie, nobody gets caught up in answering what they think is new.
