Hi Guys!

First of all, thanks so much for the info! Very Very helpful...! To give you an update:
Just got a call of the dealer! Very carefully asking me if I knew what kind of watch this is....

Honest opinion..Bottom line: leave it as it is!!! No service! It is a genuine watch as he said... Everything original! Band also original.
Yes, the watch is dirty....but in exceptional shape. The display is in very good shape and alone worth aprox 55k. I am picking up the watch later this week!
Can't wait....!

PLEASE do yourself (and us) a favor and get that watch back in your hands ASAP!
Amazing story! Congrats!

If the person with the piece is not on the list of watchmakers on this site please go and get the watch. Do not allow anyone to touch this piece, It could be very costly and the world would be without this great piece.

What is worth 55k? The watch is worth far, far more. Was it a 6239 or a 6262?

Ah silly me. The dial is still worth much more than 55k. A normal non-PN 6239 would be around 40kEUR something where the dail is perhaps 10 of the value. The PN is worth far more than 85kEUR in total.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Hi guys

A liitle update on the watch...
So I got it back last friday! Was feeling excited to get it back again....

Nothing replaced, no service and nothing cleaned....

The gentleman of the Rolex dealer said it was, as he or it is called, 'a true find'. From the first owner who wore the watch. My uncle sailed the world allover those days from the US to the far east like Hong Kong, Singapore etc. All the great ports and wearing the watch as I remember on all occasion.

Well it turns out that it is not a PN 6239 but an original Daytona PN 6262 with a serial no 2.55mil.
The brace is also original and stamped numbers clearly visible. The watch is running great.
It is truly a nice piece of art. Looking at the art deco dial...I can see why people fall in love with the watch. Dial in very good shape and perfectly intact.
So the 6262 is later than the 6239? I need to myself to get more information about the 6262 now...

Unfortunately no pics added since I am abroad and travel allover the world myself. Do not worry, the puppy is not at home but somewhere in a fault. Like some of you suggested!

Great to see the watched passed down to a family member who will cherish it! Huge Congratulations! I would Not send it to RSC or change any parts. Find a vintage 21Watchmaker and get her tuned up. IMHO

The 6262 is later and has the same improved movement (cal. 727) as the screw-down 6263/6265.

Read more about it in the lot essay in the initial link I posted on the first page of the thread.

http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/w...9-76fee1d3a9de

The 6262 is more rare and more valuable than the 6239.
