361 or 361B End Link Puzzle

I have a Tudor Prince Oysterdate, circa 1978 with a case reference 90730B.
I also have a folded link bracelet with 361 end pieces which doesn't fit the watch.
Should it have the 361B end piece?
I can't find anything definitive about which I should have and it's driving me bonkers.
Plus ... how is the "B" different from the "non-B"?
Why should it make such a difference ?
Thanks
Don
