Previous ROO 44mm RG discontinued already?

Hi Guys,

Can i check if the previous model of ROO 44mm RG has been continued already.
I find the dials for previous model more readable than the new model.

Thanks for reply.

Discontinued but you may still find one available new if you hunt around. Personally I prefer the old style dial as I find the new one quite dark and less interesting.

Okay thanks.... i still think the previous model for ROO RG 44mm is nicer as the contrasts is there. The current RG 44mm face seems too dark.

Quick comparison

It's basically personal preference but in my opinion the older dial looks much
Better. I went to the dubai boutique to do buy the new one but decided to hold on to what I had.

I had the new RG44, sold it away after 2 weeks and bought a "new" old RG44. Same sentiment, too dark. New RG44 looks great when there's a lot of light, but when night comes, becomes rather dull IMO. It was very hard to let the new RG44 go. I loved the all gold details, eg, the AP wording beneath the logo, dates etc all in gold. and a gold 'ring' around the date display. It would have been perfect if the subdials had a different tone of black. I still have a lot of respect for the new RG44, just down to personal preference I guess.
AP boutique confirmed the old dial is no longer in production, but I think it's still possible to get them if you asked around from the PI dealers. Good luck.

Excellent pic, shows them both off very well.

I wonder if you could get the bezel re-brushed to the new vertical line finish?

Thank you! Neil...

Not sure if they can refinish the bezel you can replace it though

Of course personal preference and completely subjective, but I absolutely prefer the new black face. I think this member's shot captured them both really well. Small differences but my dream combo would be the new ceramic black set up in RG, mocked it up below.

In that bottom pic the colour difference between the rose on the dial and the rose case is just too great for me.

its photoshopped obviously, but i see it.

I actually got quite the explanation from AP marketing at APSC on the official photographs. They are many, many pics layered together. So that also explains why a pic of a specific watch sometimes appears to have a different shade on the dial than on the case within the same picture. Its more than one pic with different focus points and lighting which are then layered to make a composite.

Here is my pic without the filter I always use. I love both, but kept the new dial and sold the old to my cousin

I appreciate others like it but I can't get over how dark that new dial appears and think they should've put a brighter tone of some sort on the sub dials. I reckon once the new 'novelty' wears off there will be a resurgence of interest in the original version.

The dial is the same principle as your summer edition... i.e. non contrasting. That is sort of the point, but its black instead.

Actually compared them both in person yesterday and black was still my fav by far. Was with a few friends and they all thought the same. For me when seeing them both the black just naturally seems like a progressive step up to me. As my watch collector friend put it..."If you asked me which one looks like the newer version, the black is the obvious choice, it has a special edition look to it." I wish I prefered older version as they can be had for $6-7k less :)

Agreed, but for me that's where the similarity ends. The SE is bright and light, the new RG is (in my view) dark and dismal.

Safe to say I don't comprehend the logic of that statement at all.

Looks similar to a GP and the other racing RG ROO's is probably what they are getting at.

That is actually something I like about it too. It looks closer to the racing versions than the previous.

Had the old model and sold it for the new model.

Previous model was well balanced, but the new one just has more oooomph and a more sinister look.

It's true for sure for those who get it. To me it seems more "aggressive" and that's what it feels like to me, but sinister i can agree with too. Its much more of a statement watch than the previous gen.

In any case the somewhat simple dial change totally changed the look of the watch. You wouldn't think it would, but it does in a huge way. I think everyone can agree on that.

It's the old Coke vs Pepsi argument isn't it?

At the end of the day it all comes down to personal taste.

I like both Coke and Pepsi.........same with the old and new ROO RG models.

Having seen both in the flesh, I prefer the new RG by a mile. It just looks so much cooler - "sinister" as described above. I didn't like the silver subdials on the last version, though I can see why some people would prefer it.

This pic of the new one may be the best I've seen. really brings out the tapisserie and depth of the black

I had the old model and liked it a lot but the new one is one sexy watch! Your picture really captures it well.

As for the old one I know some Boutiques still have for sale and am sure some others do as well.
