I tried one on at the OB today. I think it’s a step backwards for Omega—just like the latest planet oceans, and for the same reason. It’s bolder than the smpc and just too sporty in the styling. The last generation Seamaster and PO are more restrained and classier. With the size increase and greater contrast in the markings—just not my cup of tea.

I have put down a deposit with a local AD for a blue on blue with bracelet. The rep told me it will arrive in two week; can’t wait.
The size is barely noticeable compared to the previous generation, but the new 8800 movement is a huge improvement, the decision is easy for me. Comparing to the bracelet model, the rubber strap model feels too light on my wrist. The bracelet adds substantial heft to the watch which is what I am used to. For $100 more the bracelet is a good deal in my mind. |

Having seen them in person today....
Went to the local AD today in Southern California...
They had multiple versions available for sale and ready to purchase. My eye immediately gravitated towards the 18K yellow gold and blue dial on blue rubber strap. The price point ($6500) is fantastic! The manager also said she would throw in a nato strap to sweeten the deal.... A few things I noticed with the new models: The rubber felt cheaper than I expected. I can't explain it, just seemed like a cheap rubber. It didn't feel soft and supple. The grey dial version looks strange on the stainless bracelet (way to much grey stainless). I think this would look WAY better on the blue rubber strap. I played with the date change on one......it didn't positively click the date into the date window. You almost had to assume that the date was centered in the window, which I found strange. Winds silky smooth! I couldn't even tell I was winding the watch using the crown. The crown was hard to screw back in....( this actually made me not buy it on the spot). The threading seemed off. I tried at least 7 times to try to screw down the crown, but seemed to keep missing the threading. If you're looking at the two toned versions, go for the yellow gold. It really pops on the watch! Needless to say, I was still impressed with the watch, and the price point. I will be buying one in the future, but will wait patently for a grey market at cheaper pricing. Just my two cents... |

It wears slightly larger width wise but may actually sit flatter on the wrist. I think it is the best value out there right now.

How did it compare to the Sub overall?
Would it make a great Sub companion and what did you think of the rubber strap? |

The movement (with a very nice display case back) is on par or it could be argued is better than that found in the sub. It is also more legible than the sub. Everything is really well done on the dial and hands. It just looks more expensive than it is. Negatives versus the sub: no rolex crown (which drives a crazy premium) but also I prefer the bracelet on the sub over the omega. The braclet is really heavy to boot. The rubber strap is super comfortable and would choose that over the bracelt all day long. I like the movement of the bezel better on the sub as well though the omega is easier to grip. Just a great watch overall. And a killer deal imo |

Looks nice. I like sword hands over skeleton, but like the waves.

I think the hour markers are too far from the edge. Overall quality is very impressive though. I think I will get the black dial soon instead.

It’s lighter than I expected although I have been wearing a PO46 recently. It’s very well finished but the grey dial is not really doing it for me so I’ll go for the black when available.

I think I actually like the grey more, shows a bit more depth to the dial.

I know what you mean. I think it will always split opinion and probably does look better on the blue rubber strap as a summer watch.
