Australia- costs to import

Hello,

I'm looking to potentially buy a watch from the gray market and have it shipped to Australia. The problem is this would involve 15% import fees. Are there any ways to get around this? For example, if I were to buy a preowned watch in 'as new' condition (with the paperwork to prove it was used), would I avoid needing to pay the 15% fee to the Government?

Has anyone successfully been able to import to Australia without being charged exorbitant fees in the process?

Thanks

There are no import fees.

Just clearing costs plus GST new or used.

PM me if you want more details.

Unless the seller is willing to mark the package down in value on the paperwork or you hop on a plane and go pick it up you're out of luck

This ^

I bought a piece from Jacek from HQMilton and there was a minor handling fee for customs, then the 10% GST calculated based on the declared value. Depending on the piece, might be cheaper to fly to US with the deals on at the moment.
