Question re SS GMT ll

From what I understand, many of us on the board are planning to buy the new GMT when it becomes available.

Here is my question - Apart from the numbers on the bezel, this watch has a very similar look to the SS Sub. What is the motivation to own both watches?

I too have toyed with the idea of trying to get the GMT ll, but when I really think about it, it may only seem desirable because it's hard to find.

Pl. let me know your thoughts on this... Larry

24 hour hand function?

I think you've hit on it...
it's a NEW model / there's alwaze something nice about wearing something that's out of the ordinary...

for the record; I'm not waiting on one.

I would never sell my fist Rolex SS non-date sub. I like the new GMT for the ceramic bezel.
my 11 year old sub bought for myself for my 21st birthday...old picture as the sub is now in lock down after a full Rolex service brought it back to new looking. Will buy the GMT so this can remain new looking and become an air-loom piece.

I'm not planning on one either. It is beautiful and amazing, but if I get another Rolex it's got to have a different look from what I already have.

I see your point. Your Sub is now a safe queen. I've done this also, but remember, it isn't either-or. You may get the urge to wear your vintage Sub once in a blue moon. That's a pretty fun thing to do! Larry.

That's a good question and it was one my concern too...I do wear my watches and match the watch to my outfit (learned this from my wife), and don't want our friends to think that I have only one watch that I wear all year long...So my Sub is a green Bezel LV and I'm thinking about getting the new SS GMT, and change the bezel on my Omega Planet Ocean from black to orange. These watches are jewelry afterall.

Good point, Larry. Personally, I would never own BOTH. I still prefer the good old SS Sub-date....and if I did have that one, then I would only consider the new TT GMT-II!!

The watch with the most disguises is the GMT. You could have 6 different versions of the same watch if you aquired all the different colored inserts and bracelet options.
Trouble is I would rather have examples of each of the combinations rather than swap all the time.

I really have been showing off too damn much. I'm actually rather shy but Rolex brings out the exhibitionist in me.
