Saved enough and time to buy, but which?! BLRO vs AP 15202

I only have an Omega Speedmaster in my collection and I am looking to add one of these two but I can not decide which! Please help me.

Definitely the 15202.

Two different leagues here, imo.

I love the 202 but I think it’s overpriced for a steel watch. I’d go BLRO

For me, the 15202. I like the BLRO, but in the end it's just a $9000 watch with a gold case -- and the price increase isn't even based on the cost of the gold.

Absolutely that. Plus the bezel is only ‘best efforts red’ which is not great when you look at the Ferrari Hublots with their patented ‘actual red’. Now obviously I don’t know whether it would have been possible to do that in bicolor with blue, but I trust it will eventually, which will be the time to buy a new Pepsi.

I have a 15202, and this is a difficult choice for me at the same price. The 15202 is special for the fit and finish, design, movement and stealth factor. The BLRO is special because of the bezel colour and material, but as others have said, there is a $9,000 option available. At the end of the day I would still go 15202, but it's a very close call that depends on what you already have in your collection.

I am a hard AP fan, and the 15202 is very special and in a class of its own. However to me, a PM piece can be equally special. I was originally planning on getting a PM Rolex, but realized that in the same price range AP was not out of reach. I decided to dish out a bit extra and go PM AP. Perhaps trying them both on your wrist would sway your standstill. Good luck and happy hunting!

Having been there, I’d go BLRO. It’s the more durable watch (yes even in WG). The 15202 is fantastic but I don’t find it to be a rugged watch. Don’t get me wrong, love slapping it on the wrist but I prefer my 5711 more.

I had and loved the BLRO. Absolutely loved the heft.

But the finishing on AP is just another level, and AP steel looks better IMO than Rolex gold.

I'd go 15202.

id go BLRO for durability. the speedmaster is iconic but if i were traveling and wanted to strap something on my wrist and leave it there for a week or two, i couldnt do that and not worry about hopping in pools/ beaches/ whatnot. the AP is in another league- but it doesnt meet what i would personally look for as a second watch.

No wrong choice with your options though- good taste!

I strongly considered the 15202 when I bought my BLRO to mark a special occasion. It’s been almost a year and I love the BLRO more and more. Couldn’t be happier with it and it still remains my favorite.
I can still see adding the 15202 but if only one - BLRO!!

Boy, two great watches and a difficult choice. The 15202 is my favorite AP by far. The thing that keeps me with Rolex...they are build like tanks. So your lifestyle and use of the watch should play a role in the decision. Either is a great option.

Two great, but completely different, watches. Since you already have a Speedmaster (sporty with a busy bezel), I would go with the 15202.

The vote and support for the BLRO is not entirely surprising, though, considering we are on The Rolex Forum....

A PM version of arguably one of the best rolexes ever made????.....BLRO white gold 'pepsi' it is!

AP is, in my opinion too expensive for SS.

AP is way too overpriced for a steel piece. BLRO has a decent heft. Heft gives a whole new dimension wearing a watch. AP is nice but it does not have Rolex durability nor GMT II versatility.

Both beautiful watches, AP has grown on me since joining this forum. Not a fan of white gold ( too close in looks to SS for the price), but legendary Pepsi bezel.

I think my choice would be PM.

Certainly a fair opinion, but it has to be remembered that the price difference between steel and gold is nowhere near the price difference between a steel GMT and the BLRO. On either the AP or the Rolex, the case material isn't the reason for the high price.

15202 and then add an SS Sub for a great trio.
