Rolex Waiting List.. impatient

Hi,

I'm new here - and to the luxury market. I currently have placed myself on the waiting list for 2 watches I would like, its been 6 months and I haven't gotten any update yet.

Is there a way to build relationship to get the items faster?

Regards,

100% follow-up. I would email the person you are working with to ask to come in for a follow-up appointment. Get there and tell them what you are about to celebrate (birthday, anniversary, new job, etc) so looking forward to celebrating with your new watch. You might be surprised and get one. Show your commitment and be persistent without being annoying. Good luck and keep us updated!

It won’t cost you anything to try another AD, though it’s extremely rare to walk in and be able to purchase a stainless steel watch at this point. If you have extra cash and there are items you’re interested in buying that the AD has in stock that would be a factor to differentiate you from others on the list.

Pester them and wait. Buy things from them and wait less.

I suppose it's different for each store. My AD sells loads of stuff: lots of watch brands, jewellery, pens, luggage and accessories, watch accessories and used watches. They always have something reduced. Big spending is not necessary.

YMMV.

What he means is if you are planning to make any jewelry purchases or other brand watches that do NOT include Rolex, Patek, or AP...make those purchases now.

Rolex is supposedly producing as many watches as they can. Seems no AD has any watches. Everyone wanting a watch is on a so called wait list. No Ad's seem to be resigning their Rolex partnership agreements, but keep the floor space in their shops with nothing to sell? Hmm? Rolex ships exhibition models to the AD to create a museum or a dream world where you can imagine the watch being yours and on the wrist.

This is probably the new normal in luxury goods purchasing. Even Omega which has online sales on their website has all hot references wait listed or available only at the boutique. My advice is to keep going into your AD and one day they will offer you a watch to purchase. It may not be the watch you wanted but you buy it and start your collection / journey with that piece. My.02.

ADs are getting more watches than ever. They are sold before they get put on display. My last pickup in 2021, there were 3 of us taking delivery.

Not in the timeframe you want unless you’re in the market for some pretty high end diamonds and can find an AD who will work a bundle deal with you.

Yes, Watchmaker and Htrap2294 said is correct ... meaning, you will need to purchase (probably a lot) of items from that AD that are NOT Rolex to get on the Rolex "list."

If you think about it, if an AD graces you with a Rolex watch (say a Sub), they just gave you a bucket full of free money. They only give that privilege to "good customers." So, you need to become a "good customer" of that store, then in time, they will grace you with the opportunity to purchase a Rolex at list with them.

6 months is a really short time to wait if you don't have an established relationship

Just be cool and be patient. Consider other brands in the mean time that your AD recommends. They often give great advice if you tell them the kind of collection you’re trying to build. Enjoy the hobby.

This works.

Also, buying other things in their store speeds up the process.

You unfortunately may need to buy stuff from them that you don’t want or need in order to get the watch or watches you really want.

DO NOT buy anything you are not in the market for.
This needs to stop.

No idea if there is a rule or pattern besides spend history. I had been popping in every couple of months for over 4 years for a BLRO and lost my patience so I went grey.

Buying a little bit of jewelry helps but no need to spend big. I only buy jewelry on/for special occasions and whala... a Rolex I have been waiting on appears a week later.

At this point it would be insanity to go grey.

I am waiting as well, but I will not buy crab that I do not need or want simply for the privilege of giving my money to a business. If this is what it takes to get a Rolex, then count me out. Rolex watches are nice but let's be real. There are other watches.
My AD will lose my business altogether and I will tell my friends not to shop there if they are playing these types of games. I am the customer

6 months really isn’t that bad. I waited six months twice in a row for two watches and looking back I’m appreciative of my patience and self control. Makes for a good story when you get that surprise text you never thought you’d get

Check in with the SA and be patient. We are entering a buyer’s market here soon enough.

Lots of the riffraff clogging the AD wait lists will be passing on references given this market correction.
