Hands of the 116034 ??

Hello from PARIS,

I am interested by the OYSTER 116234 36mm with 18k wg fluted bezel, and i was told that the hands are made of white gold. Some people say the hands are brighter on the 116234 than on the 116000 because of the gold.

I thought on the 116234 only the fluted bezel was made of gold and not the hands.

thank you for your replies.

All the hands on Rolex watches since the late 1980s are gold but its a very tiny amout weight wise.

Not only are the hands gold on all Rolex models, but also the indices or other metal on the dial is 18k gold, either white or yellow.. Even the painted metal is gold underneath..

Thats possible but even if steel hands are painted or blued by heat treatment and most watches today are water resistant so case is sealed. So unless there was any water moisture ingress cannot see even if hands markers were painted steel they would rust.Myself much prefer the dials before the gold surrounds started but now IMHO its just a bit of bling factor to the dial. And if any water did get in the watch, it would not be the dial markers or hands I would be worried about, it would be the movement that rusts too.
