Potential round of consolidation. 8 to 4

A few times, my collection has grown larger than I prefer to manage. I’d rather wear a few favorites a lot than have a huge collection. I might be getting close to the tipping point again. I’m also getting the itch for another dressy/smart casual strap watch.

Which 3-4 watches would you eliminate here? The DJ stays, as it’s part of a matching set with my wife. The Sub currently gets the least wear by a very large margin.

Thanks for your suggestions...

Question: is the Lange not doing it for you from the dress watch with a strap standpoint? Great watch.

I'd keep the Daytona, Gold AP, Lange and Datejust you mentioned was a for sure keeper.

I love the Lange. I’m considering adding another.

If I were in your position I'd make sure to keep the Daytona and Lange in addition to your DJ.

I'd keep that complication piece.

Another option I’m considering is to not do anything drastic yet, and just sell the Sub then replace with another Lange (Dato or Zeitwerk) or a PP (5130/5131 or 5270).

I’d get rid of (in no particular order):

1) Sub
2) Platinum Day Date
3) DJ
4) Blancpain

You appear to lean toward dress watches, so I would hold your DJ, Platona, Lang, either the gold president or AP (pick your favorite), and the Daytona

I would keep the daytona, the 15202, the lange and sell the rest.

If you insist on keeping the DJ I would then keep the DJ as well as the YG DD.

That will leave you with a diversified collection of 5 that is complete.

This is what makes sense, since you use the sub the least...

Id keep:

Both Platinums, AP 15202 RG and the Lange (plus the DJ). The rest are not necessary IMO.

Besides your DJ...

Keep: Plat Daytona, Plat DD, PM AP 15202.

If you are scaling down there is no point in keeping the standard PM metals if you can afford the Pt for the DD.

Love the Langes, but not too much of a fan of that particular model.

I would get rid of the Sub easily (1); Followed by the Blancpain easily (2); and easily let go the pyramid texture dial daydate (3) and then keep the rest.

I’d hold on to the DJ, the Lange, and the AP. Sell the Blancpain and Sub and choose one or two of the remaining Day-dates and Platona to keep.

Keep:
1. Plat Daytona
2.Plat DD
3. Lange
4. AP
5. DJ

Shave the other 3 and you will be nice and lean, possibly add a PP for dress and that’s a mighy rounded collection, imho.

Keep:
AP, Plat Daytona, Plat DD, Lange, DJ. If you want to keep them to only 4 and that would be my suggestion then get rid of one of the platinum pieces and swap with a Patek 5205r-010 or5205G-013.

Good luck.

My logic:

1) DJ is a must per OP
2) love the platinum Daytona, so that stays
3) Motif platinum DD is my favorite DD, so that stays, even though dial color is similar/same as Daytona
4) YG AP is very nice, and fills your YG need, so that stays and YG DD goes
5) Not a fan of Serti dial or TT Sub, so that's an easy choice
6) I didn't know that was a Blancpain, so that's an easy choice to go too
7) I like the Lange 1, but if you are getting another strap, I'd toss this one too

If I had the option of trading the Serti Sub for a 5270, lol, I'd do that first thing!!!!

I may not have been clear. Sorry for that. This isn’t about consolidating to free up funds, just that I get antsy with watches that just sit. The gift of a new 8 watch winder from my wife may have been a curse. When I was using my 6 place winder, it was strictly one in, one out.

Thanks for the input.

Oh I realize it’s not about money as the proceeds from the Sub wouldn’t pay for the sales tax on the PCC! FWIW, I really like your taste in watches and respect your desire to rid yourself of stuff you don’t wear.
