You guys that go this watch still have it? What else have you added? I’m thinking about adding some more pieces and interested to see both you’re impressions of the 5170p now, as well as what other watches pp or others that capture your interest?
5170p is a great watch. Still regret selling mine.

Congrats to you. I still love mine after two years and feel fortunate enough to live in an area where I can safely wear it just about anywhere I go. Enjoy your watch!

I concur with you completely. I rarely dress up (a hand full times per year) and yet I wear my 5170p frequently. I’ve since switched out the strap to a more casual one and the watch is truly perfection in my eyes. Regardless of whether this references turns in to a classic or not, I will never sell mine.

Nice to hear I’m not alone! lol. Where did you get your strap from? Always thought about doing this to mine but wasn’t sure how to proceed?

I know you aren’t asking me but I love straps from a collected man. Super comfortable and lots of dress down options. (See two below)

If you want something a bit more expensive Camille Fournet is the maker of Pateks OEM straps.

In my opinion the 5170p is much cooler than the 5070p

Would you feel concerned wearing a 5170p in LA or NYC? Just curious

Very nice straps. I am going to check those out. Daytona looks really sharp!

Yes in Los Angeles. The last time I remember wearing it in LA was on rodeo drive in Beverly Hills and I didn’t feel safe at all. I covered it up and was constantly looking over my shoulder to see if anyone was near me. It was not fun at all. The city I love and grew up in is gone.

I was given a couple straps while visiting the Geneva salon.

I wear mine frequently in New York and have also worn it in LA. I have never felt worried in New York and very little while in LA. LA I am always on edge a little, but I also get the sense thieves targeting watches are looking for the most obvious references (and I'd be surprised if any of those thieves actually knew what I was wearing given its a IYKYK type of watch). That being said, I am always careful while in LA

Looks really nice on the strap! My comments about LA are influenced by several instances where people were robbed at gun point. One chilling example was finding an armed plains clothed police detective outside our home casing our home. When I asked what was going on, they told me a neighbor driving a Porsche was followed home and robbed at gun point. Literally struck too close to home for me unfortunately.
