This. I didn't know he had any real musical chops until he joined D&C, but he can definitely play. I thought he was all flash and famous girlfriends. Then I saw his Talking Watches interview, and realized we had that in common as well. He seemed to know a lot, besides just having the dough to buy every great watch out there. Seemed much more knowledgeable about watches than, say, Kevin Hart.

We grew up and got jobs Seriously though, I saw around 100 shows with Jerry and have seen every variation since he died. Dead and co without a doubt are the best of the bunch. JM gets "IT" and they are making the music their own. I was not a fan of JM before Dead and co as I didn't listen to his music. I have now seen D&C about 15 times since 2015 and they just get better and better. JM can play almost any style and plays incredible blues. I saw them at Fenway up close a few weeks ago and he was wearing the BLRO! Great show! I have been listening to his JM Trio stuff and I really appreciate him as as musician and a WIS. he seems to obsessively get into stuff he enjoys. Something I can relate too

So you guys have never listened to John Mayer Trio... Do yourselves a favor. The guy is a monster on guitar. He absolutely wails. There's way more to this guy than "Your Body is a Wonderland"

His successful records were pretty much pop fluff; that's why some have trivialized him. Hard to tell how he'll end up.

Not a huge fan of Mayer's music, but respect him for his guitar skills, and he's a watch enthusiast. He's actually written some entertaining articles on Hodinkee.

He was also pretty good on Chapelle Show haha

Now this is up my alley:

Definitely need to check out more of his stuff I guess, never realized he was such a talented musician and thought it was mostly just pop stuff.

I was pretty shocked at his lack of knowledge in that video. He thought blued hands were painted. I've never known anyone who knows anything about watches utter something like that.

I do wish his fake vintage watch lawsuit would have gone through the courts. It would have been good for the hobby for all the new guys to get their eyes opened.

Well, I'm relatively new to Rolexes as a "hobby." Have owned one since 1985, but discovered TRF in 2016. I know a lot more about watches than I did a year ago. But I didn't notice that grievous error in his TW video. Perhaps what you consider Watches 101 is actually Watches 201.

Agree with these points. The suit may indeed have set some precedents for vintage watch collecting.

It must also be an interesting position to not really have to look for a particular watch...he must have dealers bringing stuff to him all the time. Not Marron any longer, but others.

Those pictures give off the color of bezel. It's more purple and cranberry to me. As a fact they're worst color bezel I've seen. I hope Rolex get the Coke right

I personally dont like the red of the BLRO. In the Rolex website the RED looks so rich and deep. In real life it looks pinkish color.

Reason why I cant bring myself to buy this piece.

There's actually watch to watch variation. I've seen some that is PINK, not pinkish, but PINK and others that look like John's watch.

If you're into the reference, it might make sense to seek out other examples to look at.

Not worrying about scratches has absolutely nothing to do with money.

Those pictures make those colors look terrible....pink and almost purple. Too bad, the main reason I haven't considered one is because they didn't get the colors right. If they could get it to a true red and blue like the BLNR or Smurf I bet they would sell more.

John Mayer and BLRO

Beautiful watch. John Mayer is a genius. A beast of a guitarist and a great lyricist. Has his way with the ladies too, lol

His guide on "Best Rolex Buys under $8k" influenced my desicion on a 16570 Polar as my first Rolex.

Thanks again rolex for making the iconic red/blue modern combination accessible to people that make enormous amounts of money instead of the masses like most of us that made rolex what they are today
