I'd pick the Bluesy, just can't get much excited about black and SS watches anymore.

Only one watch: Steel only.
Only one watch: New calibre from rolex Only one watch: A red letter inscription is more rare. But is 43mm, your wrist? Both are sub, cyclop and oyster. Then I would go for the most modern one. Seadweller! |

Sitting in the case I think the blusey is one of the most beautiful Rolex watches ever, on the wrist however I much prefer the SD43. I just don't dig TT on the wrist and that SD43 will go down as maybe the greatest sport Rolex of all-time.

Honestly, I like the Bluesy better. In fact I prefer the gold 16618s and 116618s instead of the Bluesy but there are probably nearly a million TT and gold Bluesys out there between both generations. You will always be able to acquire one. I think the 16618 in particular offers great value and a good example is not that much more than the GM price for the SD43. I feel like the SD43 will have a relatively limited production. I don't see this watch being available for a decade. If you really like the watch that is the one to get now especially if you want to have a full set with your name on the card, etc. Don't get it just for this reason though! If all people thought about when getting a watch is appreciation or depreciation, no one would buy anything but SS sports Rolex, SS AP and SS Patek.
It also depends on your wrist size. If you have a larger wrist then the SD43 may suit you better. If you have an average wrist, 40mm is the classic size and timeless. However, the SD43 is a thick watch and probably doesn't fit under most shirts while the Bluesy doesn't have this problem.

This is a great point. So many sports watches tend to have black dials. If you want to get a black Daytona in the future, you might start getting bored of black dials. It's smart to plan ahead of time. For example I prefer the white Daytonas because I have a BLNR and will buy a regular black dial Sub (5513, 14060, 16610, 116610 or 114060). The Daytona and the polar Explorer II are some of the only sports Rolex with white dials. It's nice to have variety of dial colors to mix things up otherwise some watches will not get the wrist time they deserve.

The SD43 would be perfect if it was 40mm.

I went with the Bluesy for my dad and I think he enjoys it very much. Some say it looks tacky but it also has a rich history.
I do however have a hard time dressing it down since it’s always so loud. Therefore, that’s why I have the Hulk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Based on your scenario (never to sell, never to acquire the other) I'd have to go blue.

Looking at the poll results, remember the hype/interest that is inherent in newly released watches (SD43) vs. the tried and true models (LB).
I was doing a search on SD4k on google and it directed me to posts / threads from the yester-years in TRF. It was interesting to see the excitement and over-the-asking-price enthusiasm surrounding SD4k at its release time, when later, the same watch was sitting in AD showcases for months at a time. I am sure SD43 is not in that category... its larger size and beauty will have its followers for sure. But just noting that a lot of excitement is currently surrounding it on the forum compared to the older models like bluesy.

Funny you ask. I purchased both of these a couple of weeks ago. Love them both, but can't seem to take the SD43 off my wrist. Super comfortable and a little more versatile than the bluesy.

If I can't sell it, 116613LB A true beauty. One of the few watches I've flipped that I'd love to have back.

Poll: SD43 126600 vs Bluesy 116613LB
I just spotted this in a shop window in London and had to pop in and try it on....
To me, it wears about the same size as my Black Bay I went in there thinking I could try it on and conclude it’s too big for me and move on with my life. Unfortunately, I was only able to conclude that it is fricking awesome and now I must have one!! Looks like I will be adding myself to someone’s list (if any UK ADs are taking names). I’m not going to pay the £12,250 these guys were asking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Such different watches. I had the 116613 LB and flipped it two months later. It looked great but just didn't suit me. Whereas I've had a Dweller 116600 since it's launch and still my favourite watch despite having bought some beauties since (I.e. Royal Oaks, Daytona etc.)

I wear casual clothes pretty much everyday but Sunday. So for me the SD43 is the perfect everyday wear. If I wore a suit everyday I would go with the Bluesy.

Both are beauties, no doubt, I'd have to go with the SD43 just due to the fact I couldn't go TT, no YG for me.

Update!
Since I was the one who started this thread, I would like to update everyone on which of the two I ended up going with.
This morning I got a text from my co-worker who told me his contact at a local AD had informed him they have an available SD43 arriving some time around February to March of 2018. He gave me his AD contact and within seconds I was on the phone with them putting down a deposit! I’ve been saving my vote for when I’ve made up my mind. So there you have it! It’s now gone to the SD43! Thanks to everyone who voted and shared their opinions on the matter! |
