Gold discussion

What are your thoughts on gold rolex on full bracelet vs leather vs of?

Always curious if people think its a rip to get a gold watch for the same price on of vs one in full gold.

My thoughts are if it comes on both get it in full gold and you can always get an aftermarket everest.

It seems to me Rolex is trending toward new gold watches being on of. Wonder if we will see this on a gmt or subc....

I’d want full bracelet, I think they look nice on both but I don’t understand paying that much for a watch that comes on a of it’s still rubber.

There is a pretty substantial cost difference in a bracelet PM watch and one on leather/OF... gotta pay for all that extra gold!

what if price is close. like a used 2017 all gold daytona vs a new 2017 gold and of daytona.

even new there is only a 3k difference in some models between the two from trusted sellers here.

Ah i see. Well if we’re talking preowned, for around the same price, condition being comparable, I would go bracelet all day long. Leather and OF can be sourced and retrofitted

I and most of the forum would like a ceramic full gold Daytona but nothing since 2012 so I don't think it will happen, and OF is better than leather for me, esp with the sports bezel.

I would go all gold. I've seen trusted sellers selling all gold for less (both unworn). Makes no sense as an all gold Daytona after discount can be had for roughly same number or lower. OF needs to come down to low 20's for me.

Well, leather and RubberB/Everest straps can. I believe OF will not fit any watch that didn't come with OF, though...

Actually yes! ADs will not sell them unless you present a valid OF watch needing a replacement. I sourced mine through another member on the forum that was kind enough to get one for me.

Even though I appreciate the oyster flex option, the bracelet does it for me.

All should be on full gold bracelet by default with rubber/leather as an additional option. Cellini being thee obvious exception Rolexes are bracelet watches and should stop trying to be Patek. A precious metal Rolex head doesn't cut it for the money in my opinion, and for example the Day-Dates on coloured leather, whilst nice are a mistake not to be offered with President bracelet.

I love vintage pieces like the 1013 and the modern Cellini Prince on a nice strap, but I would not purchase an Oyster without the corresponding bracelet. As someone who prefers "pre-owned" pieces, bracelet condition is usually the deciding factor in a purchase. I really like the President bracelet.

I am not a fan of the OF bracelet, and I have never considered purchasing an Oyster watch with that bracelet. I like the way gold fits and wears. For more than twenty-five years, I have work an 18K YG ring. The scratches and dents are part of the appeal as they show use, not sterile storage.

I'm a bracelet guy...and especially so in full gold. If the price was close between an OF Daytona (or if they carry it into the sub/GMT lines in the future) and a full gold model, it wouldn't even be close for me.

Luckily though, this is all pretty much academic for me as I feel pretty good with the PM that's in the collection.

Of and gold bracelet both look good but if it’s my money I’ll take the gold bracelet every single time.
