Whoa! Who’s the lucky guy?

I just saw this on SF Craigslist. So who’s the lucky one?

It’s genius if it’s someone trying to collect emails for a newsletter or email phishing scam lol.

I’m with you. Sounds like a guy or a gal who doesn’t really care much about making few bucks. I would definitely ask for more. I’d like to know who the AD was. It’s in my alley and I’m interested on that 126660 deep blue.

“I paid $12,400.00 plus tax for the Daytona and I just want my money back. I am not a flipper.”

Yet he was asking $700 over what he paid with sales tax. That’s a flipper.

Or someone was robbed of 14K cash at gun point.

BOA always have armed security. In San Francisco Financial District most of them have 2 armed security. That’s probably why the seller ask to meet inside BOA.

I’ve been to every AD in the Bay Area and I don’t think this is possible to have a D Blue and a Daytona at the same time. If I were the seller, I would offer it to my friends first rather than give it to some Joe Smoe on CL for MSRP. Sounds way too good to be true.

If you know you're smart enough to be able to tell a gen 116500 from a super fake with a "clone" 4130 movement, then sure, meet in a bank and hand $14K to a stranger-
bonus, you now have emails and phone #'s of a bunch of people who wouldn't think twice about dropping $14K on a watch....

Disagree... I have sold two very legit watches locally on CL. Buyers just need to be smart.

I'm sure it could have been very legit, as THC mentioned.

Doesn't mean I'd do a CL sale/purchase though - too much safety risk in it for me. There's ways to verify authenticity before a sale, but safety is still a concern for me.

I don't buy my watches on Craig's List or eBay. So it's a non starter for me.

i think any time you are almost sure its a scam its best to just stay away.

Craigslist has that vibe for sure and its basically a platform for selling your used couch for $20 so a watch is out of place there anyway

IMO It's scam, no doubt about it. It could be legit if not the price and "new" condition of the watch. I don't believe it. Also, in CL if you sold an item and simply inactivate/delete the ad. In this case it said "SOLD". So, the ad still stay active. What is the purpose of this? Maybe continue receiving emails with proposal to sell DSSD? Which is continuation of the scam.

Scam.

And if not a scam, not worth the risk.

I wonder how many people on craigslist get robbed of their money everyday buying these fantasies. Is it in the 1000's worldwide? Seems like it..

So I can sell my watch for 20k but as long as it doesn't go to a flipper I will leave 5k profit on the table.

I would think that the seller would just take it into any jewelry store/watch dealer and get this amount or more. Why would anyone hassle with the flakes and shady people on Craigslist? Especially when you can just walk into any legit business and get your money on the spot? Even selling it to one of our trusted sellers would be much easier than to deal with Craigslist imo.

I used to have a black "M" series and white "V" series SS Daytona. Decided to sell the black dial and yes sold it on Craigslist. I also bought a Panerai 312 on Craigslist and sold it here. So you just have to be smart and careful.
