Got fixated on this a few days back.

What does SLA stand for anyway? Just random letters?

Are all marinemasters?

So researched all i could find and here they are -

Very cool Pongster. I think you’ve got them all covered. That’d be a pretty awesome collection if someone wanted to get them all.

Assuming cost is not an issue, am actually somewhat tempted to try (as i already have 5 of them).

But i just find 11 and 21 as well as 13 and 15 very similar. I can live with 19, 21 and 23 (since different colors). With 29 and 31, i dont mind the colors. At least different. My hurdle there is the tuna. Not much a fan of the tuna.

So (since cost is also a real issue), i think am happy with my 13 and 27 (part of my zimbe collection) and my 17, 25 and 33 (with their predecessors 6217, 6159 and 6105).

But that 19 and 23 - hmmm, very tempting.

I love this hobby of ours.

SLA= Seiko Limited Accoutrement

That is my guess, I win

My favorite is the SLA017 followed by the SLA033

Very informative. As a collector it might be fun to get them all.

There is only one that I like. The one with the crown in the correct position.
It's my favorite diver. Not just from Seiko, from any brand.
Happy to own that one.

Seiko has their own internal logic for their different model numbers. And SLA seems to be reserved for limited edition models, that are usually higher priced and hard to get. It doesn't "stand" for anything like an acronym, just part of their company system for model numbers.
Examples: SKX007 (Classic, now retired black diver), SRP775 (New Turtle with gold accents), SRPC39J1 (Mini Turtle in blue).

^ you may be right sir. Like the SARB, SNK and SBDX.

Was just wondering if the SLA meant something similar to the GS references.

Got this somewhere online:

So all GSes made after the modern re-launch have 4 letters then 4 numbers. All Seiko branded watches start with "S", and something tells me this stands for "Seiko" so that's the first letter out of the way.
The next letter refers to the gender of the anticipated wearer. "B" for blokes and "T" for the ladies size. The next letter is always "G". I assume this is for "Grand" but that's a guess. The 3rd letter traditionally denotes a lineup or collection of designs in other Seiko codes. The final letter denotes the calibre inside the watch.... A = Spring drive, date: 9R65 or 9R15. B = Spring drive chronograph, date:, 9R84 C = Spring drive chronograph, GMT, date: 9R86, 9R96 D = Spring drive manual wind 8 days, 9R01 (upcoming) E = Spring drive GMT, date: 9R66 F = Quartz, date: 8J56 (discontinued) G = Quartz, date: 8N65 (discontinued) H = Hi-beat automatic, date: 9S85, 9S85 Special J = Hi-beat automatic, GMT, date: 9S86, 9S86 Special L = Automatic, PR, date: 9S67 discontinued M = Automatic, GMT, date: 9S66, (9S56 discontinued) R = Automatic, (date, 9S65, (9S55 discontinued)), no-date 9S64, (9S54 discontinued)) S = Quartz, no-date: 9581 (discontinued) T = Quartz, date, day: 9F83 V = Quartz, date (larger calendar): 9F82 W = Mechanical hand-wind, no-date: 9S64 (9S54 discontinued) X = Quartz: (date, 9F62) (no-date, 9F61)

LOL, it's frustrating in the very least... I need to google a reference every time one is mentioned just to see what it is. At least I know the Turtle reference SRP777 (because I have it).

Youre right. The only one among a sea of LEs.

SLA035 coming this Feb.

Seems the SLAs common theme is being a deep diver. 200M and deeper.
