Trading 2 tone subLb for solid gold

How many members have traded up from there blue 2 tone and paid cash to go the solid gold version and do you feel like it was worth the extra money spent? I am thinking about trading mine up already for the solid gold version but then I think shoot for the 15k difference I could get another watch to add to my collection but I really do like the solid gold Also. Members who have traded up for the gold did you regret it at all or were you truly happy. I know several members have done this. I think I have even seen a few say they went back to the two tone version maybe. Before people start chiming in I will make my own decision just curious how other members felt about there trade up or down ?? Thanks in advance

I bought my 116618 LN about 10 years ago. I have had lots of watches come and go in 20 years of collecting. I can honestly say that Submariner will stay with me forever. Few watches have the presence and feel of a solid gold Rolex sport model. I’d say scratch that itch.

I did the same exact thing. Traded a SS Sub and a TT Sub+cash for solid gold. Back in July 2017. No regrets, love the gold. Nothing like it.

One argument : Not the same watch and you may miss the TT Blue Sub when its gone .
The other argument : Difficult not to like that YG version .Beautiful.

Hmmmm ... both possible ?

The TT will become a dust collector.

Not quite the same, but I traded a Hulk and cash for a smurf. I’m six months in. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

I’d love a yellow gold sub also.

I made the trade last year and I’m still amazed every time it’s on my wrist. The look, feel, and heft of all gold is worth the upgrade IMO.

Well, I didn’t trade in my TT as I still have it when I decided to buy the Anniversary green dial YG GMT so I didn’t make that call but
I can tell you having an all PM piece is special and does have a different feel than any SS or TT model.

I don’t ascribe to one having more wrist presence than another as I think that’s subjective but I doubt you would regret doing it.

You bring up a good point in would you rather have two pieces for what you will invest to have one PM? That’s up to you but as life goes on, I keep having thoughts perhaps fewer special watches is better than a bigger collection.

Good luck in your decision!

Great point. Your right I do not have any pm pieces right now. My wife has her dd36 but it’s a little on the girly side. Truth be told I wear my Apple Watch during the day lately I think In this case it’s quality not quantity

I had a tt blue sub and traded it in when I went gold but I decided against going from tt to solid pm with the same model. I ended up with a YG SkyD and can't say I looked back. Among those that have done it with the same model, I don't recall seeing any regrets. I was a little worried that the same watch in tt to pm might not have had the same wow factor for me. Given the experience of others, I've come to believe that was an unfounded worry. The one warning I'd issue is that once I went gold, it made other watches pale in comparison. Many appreciate having all types but I'm not particularly sophisticated in this regard.

I traded some other watches toward a YG Sub black dial. Couldn't be happier with it. I don't care for the blue, but the black is quite elegant. It was a retirement gift to myself. My employer wasn't about to give me one!

Trading 2 tone subLb for solid gold

I did! Love the yg and wg so have both now. Had a tt for years. The tt is still an awesome watch but you can’t beat the feel of full gold.

Definetley do it. That first jump into full gold Rolex can be unsure but after you do it, you will be so glad you did.

I did. The TT is really nice, but it isn’t a F-U gold and blue sub

Very nice. Yes I have kicked myself in the butt every day for dumping my old dd40 I want a new gold piece and I remember that often times my dd40 was not very comfy to wear without an adjustable bracelet. Gold sub no problem

Funny you say that. I have a very nice stockpile of bullion. Friends call me nuts but I have had it for awhile and I am actually still buying.
