We saw the Space X Starlink satellites the other night
It was an unbelievable sight. We were sitting outside around 6:30 in the evening enjoying our happy hour. It was a clear night with lots of stars. All of a sudden we see a stream of lights crossing the sky. They were in a perfectly straight line with some separation between them. They just kept coming and come. We counted around 50 of them.
We were both in awe and dumbstruck not having a clue what we were seeing. Aliens, missiles, airplanes, or who knows what??? I had to go inside and google to see if anyone else saw it. Turns out it was the batch of satellites launched by Space X. They launched 60 of them. This was the most unbelievable thing to see in the night sky. Has anyone else seen them? |

What part of Florida and which direction in the sky? I never saw that but it would be cool!

We saw a string of satellites like that a little over 2 months ago in NW Arizona. Pretty incredible and we didn’t find out it was the Starlink satellites for a few days! This second round sounds even more impressive!
Thanks for the link, we will keep an eye out! |

Would love to see that. I know you can see the actual launches from Cocoa beach area.

We have seen many launches from Central Florida. Night time ones are very impressive. Me and the wife went outside this morning at 6:36. We had a 5 minute window and saw just 1 Satellite from Star Link 1. Too many street lights and the sun was starting to come up. I will keep that page book marked and wait for a better viewing day.

I usually watch the actual countdown and launch from my computer then go outside to see it climbing out. I miss the Space Shuttle launches. |

Unfortunately, with tens of thousands of these satellites due for launch, the appearance of the night sky could change drastically. As an amateur astronomer, I fear that not only terrestrial light pollution but space light pollution could make studying the stars, planets and nebulae much more difficult.
