Icon7 116710BLNR vs 126710BLNR

I remember the 126710BLNR garnered some hate when it came out, at least from some people on youtube. I remember hearing: "oh I'm not sure about the jubilee on the GMT, they should have came out with a new Coke instead".

I personally like both.

Just wondering what you guys think about that now.

Thanks for voting!

My vote is the for the Batman on oyster (116710BLNR). Not a fan of sports pieces on the jubilee.

Have to say I am more of a fan of the BLNR on the oyster, and not the jubilee. The BLRO on the other hand....

Both are attractive watches. I prefer the oyster because the more subdued aesthetic fits my lifestyle better.

Once you try this watch or the BLRO on jubilee it just doesn’t feel right on the oyster, my vote is for the jubilee...it’s perfection.

I already voted with my $$$.

This question is really do you like the new direction of Rolex GMT’s. The BLRO and BLNR are the exactly the same watch with different color bezels so might as well include all three watches in the comparison.

One character flaw of a lot of the newbie Rolex Demographic is they tend to be so absolute about everything. It shows they lack any perspective and are only comfortable with what they are familiar with.
I like “this model”, so I hate “that model.” It gets juvenile and lacks the open mindedness of accepting there is more than one specific appeal about a particular watch. Post like this will bring them out in numbers to either belittle the watch they “don’t like” or find a way to give clever back handed compliments.

My first Rolex was a TT DJ36 on a jubilee. My second was the same on Oyster in SS and never went back. The jubilee is more comfortable but i never liked the look as much. If i add a second DJ41 I will probably get it to mix things up. I'd never do a jubilee on a sports model though, too much bling for me.

IMHO Rolex should offer the GMT MASTER II SS in both options, Oyster or Jubilee like they do with the DJ, .

It looks great on an oyster but I prefer GMTs on a jubilee. It's not for a sport that I can identify, but that's just my opinion. I use the Sub for sports, especially in the ocean, and the brushed links on the oyster are ideal for it (and oysterflex would be the absolute ideal bracelet for the sub, but don't get me started on that...)

As a general matter! I have other Rolex models that are on oysters with polished center links (mostly PM) and I always wondered about it. They aren't sports watches either (maybe solid gold Daytona, but still) but are on polished oyster bracelets.

I suppose that Rolex never fully settled on a bracelet design structure and made watcheS that just look good to specific people. It looks like landing still GMTs on jubilee is an attempt to do just that. A tool watch that isn't a tool for a sport?

That said, there are still GMTs in PM on PCL oysters, so what do I know.

I have the BLNR on oyster and wishful thinking to add a new Pepsi. However, if I had the opportunity for a do over, and could choose BLNR on oyster or jubilee, I would go with the jubilee.

I guess it's fair to say that most people that don't like the 126710BLNR don't like the combination of GMT + Jubilee mostly because if its looks, but I can say that I think the jubilee is more comfortable to wear than the oyster (because of its small links it hugs/conforms to your wrist more closely).

This is the root of the question. In a time where people were already frustrated in lack of supply, Rolex made a major design move for the next 2 decades in bringing back the super Jubilee to the SS Professional models. It was absent for many years and this historical fact goes beyond what the new influx of Rolex buyers know. They are use to the oyster bracelet simply because that is what they are use to seeing the last 10 years. The LVC was never liked in its beginning life either because it was so different and now..... I think you can pattern a trend that a lot of new Rolex buyers tend to follow the herd and never get out in front of them and just buy what they like.

Spoiler alert: The Daytona also once came on the Jubilee bracelet and with the cyclical and historical direction Rolex is going.........

I initially didn't like the Jubilee on the BLNR but once i tried it on a totally different feel. I love the pop of the Jubilee bracelet. I tend to go for the GMT over my Sub most days.

just because you may prefer one over another doesn’t mean everyone else must.

personally i prefer the 116710, as i own one; i also prefer the 126710BLRO on jubilee over the BLNR (hmmmmm strangely i own that as well), but it’s still a great looking watch.

If prices were not crazy and I could once again buy at msrp like 4 years ago, I would own both just because I am a super fan of the color scheme.

if my AD ever gets me my 126719, then i’ll have a BLRO on both. so i completely understand this sentiment.

I am kicking myself back when I purchased my LVC my AD also had a BLNR in the case next to it. DavidSW was selling both below msrp and I only purchased the LVC at the time. I never could have predicted the Rolex market we are in today.

Hindsight, and I’m sure many are thinking the same thing about that SS Daytona.

I really need to try both haven’t had the opportunity to try the jubilee version yet to form an opinion. I do like the look of the jubilee and I like it would show scratches less than the oyster, but I can’t say as I dislike the GMT on the oyster. I am heading to Orlando soon maybe I will crop in to David SW and try the jubilee.

I tend to be more low key as well, but the Jubilee has just a little sparkle that you see now and then, but isn't at the overpowering 'Look at me!!' realm.

I think both are really nice looking references. Rolex made the decision for me because I wasn't able to find a BLNR at an AD until after the change. I would have picked the Jubilee had both been available.
