Guys, seems that TRF got lots of AP lovers recently. Just take a look at the non-rolex forums and non-rolex reviews!
Got some question to ask the pro right here, why seems that the Royal Oak Dual Time is not as famous as the basic 3-hands version? Cos I saw one from an AD and it is so darn nice! Any thoughts?

May have something to do with the price, so close to the chrono that it may push people over to the chrono version.

Also the fact that the movement is not in-house may make some people go for the 15300.

If i would get any model from the RO line it would be the iconic 15300 or the Dual Time two fantastic pieces

IMHO actually for most of us, who really use the chronograph frequently? I think we love it's look more than it's function. But the Dual Time complications come handy to everyone, the power reserve, 2nd time zone, and day night indicator. So I think the price hike is okay for it's function, too bad it isn't in-house.

You are also right, price is always an ISSUE!

Same for me, either Dual Time or the most iconic 15300. I got few other simple 3-hands watch so I made the decision on the DT. I will be back to the basic one day!

I had the choice between the DT, 15202, and 15300. All three in different price ranges. Ultimately I chose the 15300 for it's simplicity and versatility. The 15202 is gorgeous but too light for me - I should have considered the RG 15202. The DT was a very real consideration but I wanted an AP movement not JLC. Either way, I love the RO styling.

Yeah I tried the 15202, I'll go other options if I am going for a dress watch. The icon must be an ICON for some reason!
To be frank, it is quite some drawback to be a JLC movement although it is a superb movement. But I tried to calm myself down by telling myself AP got 40% share of JLC and these two companies had some real close relationship in watchmaking.

I love the DT!
But if going Dual Time I think Id have to go wit the VC
Overseas. I like the bracelet quite a bit more on the VC
and rather the 42 mm case as well.

LOVE the Dual time, but honestly....I like the Vacheron Overseas Dual Time a bit more, dial just looks a bit cleaner IMO.

That is a great choice. But I like the presence of AP more. Although the 42mm case and 150m water resistant......

Oh I see but I find the dial on AP suits me more, cleaner for me and the hands are perfect. VC DT is definitely a fabulous watch nevertheless (etc. I prefer it's 42mm case which is perfect as my wrist is too small for a ROO and the water resistant of 150).

TWO hands...is the classic AP, if we're talking Royal Oaks. (The original RO "Jumbo" running the famous 2120 movement, and its later versions such as the 15202).

Still, the 15300 Royal Oak is no slouch, and the newer 3120 is a fantastic movement in its own right, combining horological craft, superb features (long power reserve, freely-sprung balance, etc.) and rugged construction in equal measure. It just needs more time for history to catch up to its promise.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with teh AP DT. IMO the AP and VC DT's are the bets out there.

I give the AP A 9.5 out of 10 and the VC a 10 out of 10. Only reasons VC get's my vote is the size and the bracelet is so damn cool! Then again it is hard to beat the comfort and wearability of the AP RO bracelet.
