I would have seriously considered the LV when I purchased my LN two weeks ago as my AD had both. To me, the weird pastely green bezel shot the LV down as an option right away. Too bad too because the dial is one of the most mesmerizing I've ever seen on a watch. I just couldn't get past that bezel. If they made the bezel a deep Forrest green or even a richer goldish green to match the dial, I may have walked out with an LV instead.

Very hard choice between two. Easiest thing to do is get both!

Get the Sub LV. It totally stands out from the all too common black sub if you want something different. If you want a classic, stay with your black sub.

I have the LVc and I love it, however I completely agree with you about the bezel. It's a shame because if it was darker it would probably be my favorite watch of all time

Nope, none taken. You clearly wrote "no offense and my personal view"

Seriously guys, you can't go wrong with either. Even the SubC no date is an excellent watch. It is afterall a Rolex Submariner. No mistake in getting this watch whatever variant.

Look, green sunburst is so nice and the black is so classic.

What are your thoughts on the black vs. green sub?

Would i regret selling the classic?

If people who have owned both could chime in that would be great :)

Kind regards, Steve.
for the Sub date, i would choose green

SubC - Black or green

My vote is black submariner no date, when submariner was introduced in 1953.. it's a black dial without date..

So for me black dial submariner without date represents the purist form of Rolex Submariner.

I can't remember if I read it on this thread or another one, but someone said that the black sub has, "the most perpetually black dial you've ever seen". I really like that description as I find it quite accurate. Depending on the light, it feels like your peering into a bottomless black well.

Can't go wrong with either IMO. I went black and stare at it and am sure about my choice every day. Keep thinking about a Hulk though. And a BLNR. And a Bluesy. Guess that is what it is all about !

Green has more character and is probably rarer than the black sub.

If it's going to be your only watch, then the black because it's a perfect everyday wear watch. If you have a larger collection, then the Hulk because it stands out as something different.

One thing cool about the Hulk is that most people aren't aware that there is a green Rolex. In a sense, it flies more under the radar than your standard black Sub that is obvious to anyone with even a remotely small knowledge about watches.

Green. If you want a black as an additional one then go for SD43. BLNR is also a beautiful combo with Sub LV.

I have the green sub and can't lie you can't have any doubt that you want that bad boy. Because if you do you are going to wish you had the black sub.

That is proving true. I had the 116610ln then 114060ln and now the LVc and the green is my favourite by far.

I vote for the black

It is more classic. But, if green is your color, the Hulk may work long-term for you. I am not a green person so I could not love the green sub.

Having both now, I say it's the green LV no contest. Yes, the black is classic and more neutral, but the Hulk really just has a "wow" factor to it and a much more lively dial than the LN. That does account for the fact that I have other more neutral-looking pieces.
