Ever bought a watch you don't like that much but really wanted to have ?

a bicolor watch , you know steel and gold ?
Looks so 1980's - 1990's
I tried it about 5 or 7 years ago. Bought a Submariner blue dial steel/gold
sold it after a few months cause it just wasn't for me.

a 2tone Zenith, don't think there are that many....

whatever, you might know I love the De Luca. A great chronograph with the legendary El Primero Inside.
If I'm not mistaken, could be one of the first Zenith using the EP movement after the re-introduction of the EP. As we know during the quartz crisis Zenith was forced to stop the EP production but our hero Charles Vermot made a great move

Anyway, in 1984 they made a wise decision and made the EP once again. I believe it was due to a big order from Ebel
In 1988 they made those first De Luca watches, they made them until 1996 and only about 6500 were ever made

All of the were stainless steel except 680 pieces made for the Italian market, the famous 'Cairelli' made a special order
Italy was a big market for watches in the 1980's - 1990's .... Rumour says the Daytona hype was started around that time in Italy !
So like said, Cairelli ordered exclusively for the Italian market 680 De Luca .... steel / gold
Only in 1990 Cairelli ordered 530 bicolor blue dial De Luca and 150 black dial De Luca

And I recently got the black dial. Is it the most beautiful watch ever? Hell NO, not even close
But the fact that I love the De Luca and I love the EP and 150 EVER made isn't bad either was good enough to hunt for one

complete !!!!

Hmmmm....I’ve bought watches that I was unsure of, mostly because I felt it was something I should have in a collection, namely the Rolex Sub. More fool me, I’ve bought it twice to see if I was wrong the first time...

Bought a Speedy. Looked a lot better in the pictures. I remember seeing that tt blue Sub on someone's wrist. I'm fine with two tone, but gold with that blue just didn't work, IMO.

Yes my first LV. A Z serial back in like 2007 maybe?

I cringed when I first saw it but I knew they were a bit hard to get. I bought it and barely wore it. I got caught up in how the green didn't match with much.

I sold it.

As it turns out I bought another and it is my daily wearer. It is the only Rolex I have received a random compliment on. I'll always have an LV from now. The green has just grown on me.

Buying a Rolex is such a big investment that I'm not sure that I could ever buy one if i wasn't completely sure that i absolutely loved it.

Yes, the Hulk, found it awesome in pics and in person, but when I finally got it I really didn't like it that much, almost never wore it and sold it...

That De Luca is gorgeous! I have the Rainbow Flyback and bought another Rainbow 2-tone which I absolutely love.

Yes, a colorful Speedy day date mk40. Fell in love with the crazy busy dial. For the same reason it eventually had to leave the stable.

I try stuff all the time. Can be painful but how else will you know. AD showroom for an awkward moment with a salesperson just isn't enough IMO

I traded one I didn't want for one I didn't really want. It's my daily beater though.
Tag SLR chrono (CAG7011) for Tag F1 chrono/auto (CAZ2010), I'm happy.

I occasionally get the urge to buy something really ugly just to see. Or something really uncharacteristic of my tastes. Never end up going through with it though.

Got one last week, delivered, great piece, but for a lot thinner of a profile than I thought... less versatile. In debate mode...
