*Help* Is this normal?

Hi guys,

Finally got my BLNR and I'm over the moon with it. However upon close inspection in daylight I've noticed something which is bugging me. Take a look at the triangular 12 O'clock marker around the bezel, at certain angles in daylight you can see it sort of looks dirty? It's a brand new watch so I'm wondering is this normal? Is it just a reflection?

yep heaps of ppl have this issue.

I wouldnt say its normal but when I bought my GMT2c I made sure the triangle didnt have this issue. It would annoy me.

I'm sure RSC would replace that if you took it to them and complained.

I couldn't live with that, if you bought it brand new from AD take it and demand new bezel

I'm starting to feel like this will become like the batch of poor mag cyclops that got through.

It definitely shouldn't look like that, but a lot of people might just accept it and rationalize it saying they personally don't care.

*Help* Is this normal?

Apparently it’s normal. I just got mine and I can see it to, it got better a little when I wiped it with a micro fiber. I even started a thread on this a few days ago and someone pointed to me to another thread about the same issue. I may stop by the RSC to see what they say. Mines not too bad and hardly notice it already.

Could be from someone handling the watch with greasy or sweaty hands , Give it a light brushing with a soft toothbrush & hand soap , it usually works . If not & its really bugging you, take it back to where you purchased it & show them .

My GMT has a similar issue & it used to really bother me , now not really interested & don't notice it anymore.

See it all the time, just how it is in certain light, I delayed buying a used GMTc due to this but I've seen it on new ones as well.

Mine is the same at certain angles. Noticed it at first when I got the watch. Then just forgot about it. Don't sweat it and congrats on the BLNR!
Enjoy it

^^^Yup, that’s exactly what I thought reading these BLNR threads on the dirty markers.

That happened to me when i bought my GMT and I used toothbrush bristles to clear it out. It made a difference but not how I think it should look like (like new) - but I'm happy that I cleared it up as much as I could I didnt bother taking it anywhere to get it checked.

Here is a snapshot of the photo on Rolex’s website. If you move the photo around, look closely, you can see an outline and some shadowing in the middle.

Mine appears a little discolored too, but I didn't notice until I saw this post and checked. Don't worry, enjoy!

I've had my LN (from new) for about 4 months now and after pretty much constant wear it looks like when i got it - NO triangular discolouration whatsoever.

If it's brand new, I'd ask an AD for advice.

Here’s the scoop. Just left the main Rolex service center here in NYC. At first the person helping me couldn’t see it, truth be told I was having a little trouble seeing it in that light. They took it back to the technician and finally saw what I was talking about. Apparently the platinum does patina over time. They steamed it for me and now seems to be gone. The yachtmasters are known to get really dark with patina and look good as new after servicing. So, maybe take it to a good jeweler and have it streamed.

I think it's normal, and I wouldn't sent it for service/replacement. Mine had this at the start, and it disappeared eventually. I guess it's some kind of residue?

Edit: here it is just now, no sign of this marking. When I first got it, it looked just like yours.

Here's a more recent thread about it: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=562803

Huge congratulations on the watch James! It's a beauty. I hope the wait was worth it. Enjoy it in the best of health.

Normal or not, it's common and nothing to get agitated about.
