Trading TT bluesy for 18k?

Hey all,

Loving my bluesy two tone. However, I am growing more and more fond of the solid gold blue sub.

Do you think it would be foolish to trade up, with the only difference being the metal?

I would definitely want a preowned one, new they go for $27k and preowned it looks like $23k or so.

thanks

I did the same thing after I flipped the TT. I missed the starburst and decided to go full gold and wear it a lot. I love it!

Tough one.

Nothing beats an all gold Rolex for WOW factor but the 2t is simply iconic. The 16613 defined the premium tool watch segment for decades.

So I was all about getting a full gold piece and for some reason the 116613LB popped more in my eyes so went with that. I wanted to love the all gold.

I have contemplated this many times over the years. Proud 16613/116613 wearer since the 80's. But everytime I try full gold on, I think about getting one.

Yes full gold Sub has the sunburst blue dial now, BUT the early ceramic ones (V serials) had the flat blue dial. Make sure you get a random serial with sunburst (specify) dial!

Get what you like but I kept my bluesy and added a Day Date for my gold piece. The bluesy is an icon on its own.

Yea, I just currently can't afford a gold piece and a steel piece at the same time. What would be prime would be a DD40 and a LV, but thats for the future.

Just depends on you and what you're looking for out of the watch.

I'm more of a sports guy, myself, so...the sub/GMT are more natural choices for me. Also in consideration is the clasp system. The sub has the glide lock clasp, which greatly increases your odds of a perfect fit, while the DD does not have a micro adjustment system of any kind. To be fair, however, the DD does have a 1.25 link you can order (read: does not come standard with the watch) which greatly assists in this endeavor.

So...your call. Both fantastic time pieces...love both to death.

I am thinking about the same but wouldn't solid gold be too much bling for a daily wear?
