Need Advice for my Collection - First Thread - 40th Birthday

Let me start by thanking you all who participate on this forum as it has provided me with much entertainment and education over the past couple of years.

Below are pictures of my current collection (sorry for the bad pic – a watch box will be purchased soon)

- Datejust 2 (fluted bezel, grey dial – my first Rolex purchase 10 years ago)
- Hublot Big Bang Black Magic (Fun watch purchased 3 years ago - don’t kill me on this one bought pre owned)
- SS Skydweller Blue Face
- Omega Speedmaster (Hesalite)
- Submariner ND 114060 (Daily Beater)

I’m considering trading in the Datejust 2 and Hublot Big Bang + a little cash for an AP Diver or 15400 (White Face). I feel a little bad trading in my first Rolex however I find it a little too close to the new SS Skydweller.

Any suggestions?

I’m getting the itch for PM and will get a DD40 at some point but I feel that’s for the next milestone

So I’m looking for advice on a piece to commemorate the occasion early next year.

Thanks !!!!

Go for it! You already have a diver so the 15400 could add some variety.

I would lose the DJ as you have said. Quite similar to the sky d. I'd go with the AP as you have mentioned.

Tough choice - I’d probably lose the DJ & the Hublot and go for the DD so you’ve got a PM watch in the collection. That said, every collection also needs an AP!

Damn, the Skydweller looks tiny next to the Hublot.

I think your proposal makes good sense. Just because it's your "first" Rolex doesn't mean anything more than you make it. I mean did you make vows to the first girl you ever dated? :)

Nice collection. I might look at it different in that the trade value on the Sky-Dweller is at an all time high right now. I bought the YG and WG Sky-Dweller and while I liked the size and weight I could never get used to the dial so out they went. I do not know the value of the Hublot but you should have enough there to buy just about any YG DD40 or a PM Sky-Dweller if the watch really works for you. Just a thought.

That line of thinking sounds great to me
You consolidate your collection, and add a brand, what's not to like

If you are holding off on the DD for the next milestone then for me it would be AP 15400 all the way!

I think AP would be a great addition for your 40th. 15400 or even better 15202

DD40 all day!! Love it!! The size of the 15400 doesn't work for me personally I'm more a 15300 guy but I didn't want to deal with servicing so I went for DD40.

Go for the ROC, better balanced at 41mm than the 15400. If you buy used you might be able to swing a PM.
