It's the one you want more than any other. If you can't pin it down it is possible that there is no Sub you like enough at present. I would not be inclined to spend money on something because someone else likes it.
Easy choice for me. No justification or explanation needed. You do you. Have fun. It's no good if it isn't fun. |

I hadn’t noticed until now but to my eye it looks like the indices were also very slightly reduced in size from the 11 to 12… What do you think when comparing in person? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My photo isn't great, as the 116610LN (on the right) is slightly canted away from the middle 124060 (on a slightly different plane). In person, I do not discern any maxi dial difference between the 11 and 12 series dials & hands. I;ve got a 16610 LV with maxi dial that looks identical as well

I love my Z serial 16610. Why? Because it has the 5 digit dimensions, but with a "no holes case" and the non engraved rehaut.
Only thing I would change is the band. The glide lock clasp on the newer models is way better. |

124060.
Rather reasonable on the secondary/gray market if you don’t want to wait and/or don’t have that level of “push” with your local AD. |

If you have any sub, you’ve got one of the most iconic watches of all time with an amazing heritage. You can’t make a bad choice.
To me, the best subs are SS black dial/bezel….with or without the date and all vintages. On the higher side of the price spectrum it would be the full YG with black dial….all vintages. |

My answer is the best one is the one you don’t have yet are are currently wanting or waiting for.
For me it’s this one (waiting for the funds; I know these are readily available lol) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All the Submariners, SubDates, Sd’s etc, have something different to offer.
As Peter has said it’s your choice.

Y/G Submariner with blue dial & bezel, in my opinion the best colour combination for the Rolex Sub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This, 1000%!! I have the same 14060, but with Swiss - T < 25 at the bottom of the dial, so I think it's slightly older than yours!? Perfect watch for me, even if the tritium lume is dead as a dodo. And your photo is excellent, so I didn't bother posting my crappy old ones!

Either a white gold or no-date for me. Probably can get a good deal on pre-owned.

I love them all but for my lifestyle and traveling I found the LVc to be tops. It’s not too heavy to wear for weeks on vacation including multiple doves. It has enough color “pop” to stand out but also easy to maintain with brushed bracket/clasp.

Quintessential submariner- the 5513 no date, vintage without the white gold surrounds on the lume.
