Outdoor Built-In Kitchen BBQ Grill

So... there's Lynx, FireMagic, American Outdoor Grill....

Looking at 36", maybe a mix of burners. Yeah, price is what it is and she will be nat gas of course. Would appreciate words of wisdom / experience from TRF grillers.

Have you considered DCS? I've cooked on friend's a couple of times and it was awesome. I'm too cheap to buy something in that range because my Weber seems to do the job.

I'm a big fan of Hestan grills. I have a freestanding model and love it. Had a Fire Magic previously and have noticed that the Hestan cooks much more evenly overall - virtually no hot spots. It's a newer brand and not available everywhere but built extremely well.

Do you happen to have a place like Pirch around where you are able to go and try all the grills? Pirch has cooking classes where you can use the appliances. Once I tried the Lynx all trident I was sold.

It’s all infrared so gets insanely hot super quick but also cools super fast as soon as you turn down the heat. The temp control and range is crazy. 200* slow smoke all to way to searing. It does take some getting used to because things cook way faster. Can also throw a griddle plate on it since they are the same trident heat source as the separate lynx griddle. Clean up is super easy too. Put all the burners on full blast and scrape all the crap onto the burners and it turns to dust. Once a month I pull out the 3 burners and wipe down the inside and drip tray.

They are made in the USA and their customer service is awesome. Had a preheat problem with the pizza oven and they had a tech out same day. Also had one of the foot posts bend on the griddle plate and they sent me a new $320 one and let me keep the original. They also have a cool group on Facebook (Lynx community) with their professional chefs, techs and owners where they will help you with all your questions, cooking tips, recipes, etc. They do grilling prizes and we got free grilling utensils and a set of steak knives another time. Think they each retailed for around $150.

Go look at John Michael Kitchens and send me a PM if you want.

We did Hestan and I love it.

Great info so far, keep 'em coming.

Alas, no place to try them all. Thx for web links too!

Singe89, am leaning towards Lynx pro all trident... yet OMFG the price. I love BBQ and the low 200F to 1k is perfect from slow smoking to Tomahawk.

John Micheal looks epic, yet not the style for Florida Tiki pool.

So.... rebirthing this old thread as they're installing part of the Lynx pro kitchen. Hopefully it'll be done in about two weeks as we have electrical stuff to install. Went with a 36" all Trident, cocktail sink, refrigerator, and various storage / drawers / garbage.

The grill will be awesome, looks great so far. But, I think you also need a good old fashioned smoking pit. Nothing beats a brisket cooking for 14h over charcoal and wood chips. I like mesquite personally. For ribs and pulled pork, hickory and add a bit of cherry, apple or peach - can't go wrong!

OK, now I'm hungry.

Many thanks, and there is room for a smoker on the left between the cabinet and the door.

My only question, when's the GTG?!?

Looking great so far. Next house we'll do something like this. We have too many "outdoor" days not to be cooking and eating outside.

Thx everyone, it's been a looooong project and there's still a month or so until everything is done. Here's a pic of the pool spa/hot tub area. Still have the electrician to come in as we're running about six 20A lines for the custom kitchen and various lighting.

Rachael, the Unicorn, is because my wife said i never got her a unicorn.

Problem, solved

From intimate to parties of 20 or so. Generally, just my Muse / wife and i. We cook a variety of things from meat and veggies to pizza (and yes considered the Lynx pizza oven yet at some point costs escalated plus space became a premium). We can always get the free-standing pizza oven if we feel we need it.

Many thanks and no worries. Sure we could have done.... or that.... yet in the end am hoping for a top-notch, reliable, food prep / cooking area. We have an abundance of counter space for food and drink prep / serving outside, PLUS the window to the left is the pic leads to our inside kitchen so that can be a 'pass- though' window for food service from the indoor kitchen to the outdoor area.

Ya’ll are killing me with the posts.

I would love to do such a setup but just don’t know if it is worth it in our Denver climate.

One question....

How do you mitigate the smoke?

I have a large covered patio but have to position my gas grill at the vey edge so the smoke gets pulled out. Otherwise, the smoke hanging in the patio looks like a cloud of smog for the next hour. Using the BGE anywhere near the patio is a no go.

(Friendly humor, and some truth) Just wait until you've had to deal with ~50 different people to get this luxury backyard living space done. Permits, craftspeople, etc. It nearly killed me!

Ok, not really yet it was a bit of a PIA at times.

Sorry to hear of your airflow situation. We're fine here as it's really more open than it looks in the pic. 12" behind the grill is screening. There's also a ceiling fan, but not really needed in our case since we get a very good breeze.

Here's the overall pics of the ~1250 sq/ft area. Small by some for sure, yet it's our own personal Pooltpoia.

The fire pit will have a matching granite top as the kitchen, we're STILL waiting on that. This is literally Day 1 of things being 'done' and working.

Yeah, we love it, but OMG the effort it took to get here was........

Enjoy!
