Opinions on 5513 Gilt
Hi All -
I've come across this 5513 gilt from a trusted seller that I am quite interested in, have always wanted to add a gilt but have been scared of them up until now! This piece is polished but is otherwise being represented with the hands, insert, bracelet etc being period correct and no re-lume. I also have a short video of the dial under UV and the lume glows brightly. Video doesnt run long enough to see how quickly it falls off. To my untrained eye it looks pretty good but any thoughts from the experts would be much appreciated. Price seems reasonable (low-mid 20s). Many thanks |

Opinions on 5513 Gilt
Dial looks good to me. Hand Lume merits more study. Hands themselves are later. Insert is later. Case looks very respectable, whoever refinished it did a nice job. What’s the serial?
Aside- if seller is representing as all period correct, he’s either lying to you or doesn’t know this period watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hmm the case does look suspicious..way too new! Might be one of those Asian replacement cases that are gen spec. Also insert seems to be one of those floating around on ebay, very good print and artificially faded. Be careful!

Oh and crown is also not genuine! It misses the crimped parts on the inside the genuine 702 or 703 crowns clearly have. Moreover, it does not screw down perfectly which is also off.

I believe the case has just been re-cut and polished.

I like the bracelet.
Case has obviously been freshly detailed (looks like the LA guys), not that there's anything wrong with that per se. My issue would be with the shenanigans that appear to have taken place with the lume plots and hands. And...is that gilt text? Doesn't feel right. Not for me. |

If there has been so much work done to it... wouldn’t you rathe just buy a well loved gilt 5513 with the correct long 5 insert? The recut case idea always creeps me out. I would rather own a polished down case than this
