low amplitude

My new Explorer 1 is running great and well within specs.
However, the amplitude readings (full wind + 3 hours) over 5 positions average 237, while I was expecting something between 270 and 300. Difference between horizontal and vertical is 31, which is fine.
RSC says everything is within spec, and, as I said, the watch is running great, so this is really a curiosity rather than a concern.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Now about your new Explorer’s amplitude. My guess is it has not been assembled carefully enough and the jewels are not perfectly set. This would give just enough resistance to retard amplitude slightly.

If I’m right, this should rectify itself over time. I’m guessing accuracy will too.

Amplitude is also effected based on the position that the watch is stored.

Thanks 77T and offrdmania for your responses and satisfying my curiosity; as I said, the watch is running great.

As for Billfish, I think the guy is just an idiot.

Your average amplitude shouldn’t really be in the 270-300° range as you somehow expect. 300° is typically around the maximum ideal amplitude in the horizontal positions. So the average across five positions will be markedly lower.

Your average of 237° is nothing shocking.
