Ok I'll start . This is now gone . 1921 woman's 9k gold Rolex watch. Marked on the movement & caseback but not the dial for some reason (this 1 is long gone).ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363793313.852593.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363793337.294021.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363793220.793973.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363793249.478574.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363793269.712163.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363793293.272559.jpg
Note the W&D hallmark . Sorry the picks are bad but they are iPhone pics . I'm not even sure if you can make out the Rolex engraving on the movement . But it's there. It's a shame what happened to this little watch. I sold it to a guy that "had to have it for his wife" only to find out he destroyed it to melt the gold . When he realized how upset I was he gave me the movement back for free . Oh how nice of him ! I hate seeing watches trashed for the gold ! Anyway ......... more pics guys ? Mike B , Canada ⌚ |

Here's a before and after ...
It's a Rolex cushion (1930's ?) that I picked up here in sunny New Zealand.
A bit beaten up on arrival and I had to make do with what parts I could source. I think it scrubbed up ok |

And here's a couple more ....
Rolex Speedking (1940's).
And an odd-ball tonneau. Nicely made case and period-correct Rebberg movement but certainly not sanctioned by Hans Wilsdorf |

That is a gorgeous one, Nathan. I am looking at buying my first bubble back. Not sure which one, however.

I have two from the 30s. Both ladies watches.
The first one is my favorite. It's my 18k rose gold oyster. The second one is my Rolex that is probably in the most mint condition. It has an engraved case and the etching looks new. It was kept in a safe for over 50 years. I had both serviced and they both run great. |

We have a few oldies.
Nancy's 1937 telephone dial with original expansion bracelet 1940's Tudor Late 1930's British military pocket watch, stem wind & stem set caliber 548. The case back has the correct British broad arrow, originally used by the Board of Ordinance and more recently used by the Ministry of Defense. The B designation indicates it was a backup timepiece carried in a holder in a vehicle or vessel. This one has been verified by the Toronto RSC, overhauled recently, and it still runs like a champ. Nothing for show on this one, it was a purpose built, no frills, piece of equipment. Movement pic from the 'net I've had this one for a couple of years, an early 1930's gold plated, pretty good shape overall. I might have the case replated, and the dial and hands cleaned up one of these days..... Then there's this old thing, the Granddaddy of them all. We believe it to be the only known example of a running 1908 Wilsdorf & Davis pendant watch, from the same year ol' Hans registered the tradename Rolex. The photo essay of the restoration is here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ht=Restoration Here's myt latest, circa 1940, worn by a friend's aunt through WW2 as a nurse in Europe. Its in pretty tough condition, runs but that's about it. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with it, if anything......

Al, that pendant Rolex is amazing. Love your collection. I would get the Nurses's watch restored and put a on nice black leather fold-over band (you can find a new old stock - I have several). It would be nice to see it restored.

Such fabulous watches you guys have! I love these all. I'm waiting on some to come back from Bob Ridley and one other watchmaker. I think it would be great if we could talk about these watches and try to learn more about them and their history, and what to look for in collecting them.

All 3 of today's are beautiful! Thank you for sharing them with us. I'm hoping to have some to show off when I finally get them back from various watchmakers :-)

thanks the case style is available from other companies and rolex, but only a few, under 3 have surfaced with submarine on the dial, one is in the rolex museum, after a few years the constant screwing and unscrewing to wind everyday the bezel got ruined and the waterporoofing failed, now my version with a metal dial the rusted in high humidity, it is the only known example the others have the white porcelain dial, the oyster crown was patented a few years later, so only ran this model for 4 years in low production numbers for the asian market in the old british empire, india, burma, singapore.

Found this little beauty in a junk shop. the enamel face attracted me, and I was given a nice surprise once I got home and had a good look at it.
earliest service marks are from 1914, but as yet, I am unable to accurately date its manufacture. |

Here's mine, I think the dial was refinished and my girlfriend took the watch in for a cleaning but came back with (sadly) refurbed hands.
