Wore SkyD blue as daily for over a year and love it still to this day. Especially those who travel a lot and need full date capability. As others have said, the Rolex version of the annual calendar is VERY impressive. I sooooo do not miss that old-school side-of-case pusher sequence.

Daytona’s have commanded a premium for well over a Decade and the SkyD is too big IMHO.

I like size and also complicated. I think it’s very soon to can decide what’s going to happen with Sky Dweller price. Remember in the first years after was released Daytona nobody want it. I see on forum and an announcement of that time when a AD buy all models Rolex pre owned but NO Daytona. SS Sky Dweller have 2 years of existence and have a pretty good resales price. Maybe it’s better to have this discussion after 20 years of SkyDwellers SS existence. |

The real question is why would this watch cost more than $6000 more than an Explorer 2. They are more or less the same watch. Where is the extra 6 grand when it comes to the Sky dweller?

Same thing here. The SkyD is the last watch I’d let go.

Simple really. Daytonas are more sought after. Supply/demand dictates price. The Skydweller is a relatively new reference compared to Daytonas and subs. Having said that, I owned a Daytona and flipped it within a couple of months. Ended up really hating that watch for a number of reasons. I currently own a Skydweller and love it. I may never sell it.

The SkyD to me is one of the best values out there. 14.4k MSRP for an annual calendar in the 100M Oyster case with 3 beautiful dial options. It will climb imo but if it doesn’t I still think MSRP is a steal when compared to similar offerings from other brands. My kids can worry about what it’s worth someday while I’m in a vase on the mantle!

Blue SS Sky Dwellers sell for around 65% more than retail - that's a reasonable premium I would have thought.
Mine is a daily wear and I bought it because of the complication and its ease of use - a Rolex annual calendar is a nice thing to have. |

I have the same SkyD reference; it’s the perfect watch. I also love the uniqueness of the two tone. |

I think it's mostly that it is new. Hasn't had time to develop a real following although it might just be one music video/celebrity appearance away from super stardom... Keep in mind that the crazy desirable references have been around for 50 years and have a long history, which is part of what makes them cool. It's that link to the past and the history; the accumulated coolness as it were.

The real question is why people pay $22k for a $12,400 Daytona.

No comparison between the SkyD and Daytona.
1. Dayton has 60 years of history...SkyD a few years. 2. Daytona design is a proven classic....we’ll see how the SkyD is appreciated over the years. The SkyD is a unique timepiece, but it’s just wishful thinking that the SkyD will ever attain the popularity and cult following that the Daytona has achieved! |

I bet if it were 39mm and less thick, it would be a very hot seller. In all metals.

It's an amazing watch. The Rolex 9001 movement, annual calendar and dual time zone, and also quite stunning to look at in any material. It makes a statement on the wrist. I think if it was 40 mm maybe it would have an even wider appeal. Rolex started offering Yachtmaster models in smaller cases. Started at 44mm. So we shall see what happens if a smaller skydweller were to appear.

That thing is a garish monstrosity compared to the Daytona. My wrist is a flat 7-1/2”, and I would definitely feel uncomfortable trying to pull that off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Sky Dweller is an amazing watch. It just doesn't have the fanboy following of the Daytona or Batman at the moment.
I love my SD with the white face. |

Price is dependent ok both supply and DEMAND. In percentage terms demand is much lower for SkyD than Daytona given the relative supply
