PP (or alternatives) for the Lady

Hi y'll,

I have a problem. Not really a problem in a way that I need someone to bail me out but I need inspiration.
When the wife and I got engaged my present was a Rolex Datejust WD silver blue 31mm.
Now we have something else coming up and I want to surprise her again.
She is absolutely not in watches and I have now glue about women's watches at all.
I do like Rolex rainbow models but that is out of my reach. I want something classic, long lasting and sustainable. It doesn't necessarily has to be WD again.

of course, i thought about 7118 but a.) she already has blue WD with diamonds, b.) she is not a big nautilus fan and c.) not sure how much of 'flushing money down the toilette' that is in terms of holding value.

Anyone here that had a similar problem? Buying a watch and handing over to next generation is something that PP is is telling in their add - but what to do with a daughter???

any form of Input greatly appreciated

7118 is great and if blue, is selling quite a bit over msrp at the moment. Good luck getting one. New 24's are selling at a good price point but I wasn't a huge fan of them in person. Go check out a 7118 if you can.

I don't know her style, is she girly feminine (wants diamons) or will she wear a more plain sports watch? Will she wear a man's size or does she prefer 31mm?

All of these factor into how we make suggestions. Patek has female versions of the Aquanaut as well, and they may be obtainable, unlike the male version. They also come with diamonds or plain. And then there are Patek dress watches, which can look really good on a female. But she would have to pick one she likes; picking for her is very risky. But there are female dress watches as well.

So you see, lots of options, but it really depends on her style. Larger, male watches is the trend for young women. But she would have to like it.

If she is not a big fan of Nautilus, what about the 7234R? That watch is lovely and has a good useful complication.

I like the idea of 7234R but she has tiny wrists.
Of course, golden Daytona can look supreme on girls but don't think this will work. I was actually thinking on something more glittery but in a classic way. Like Cartier but not so old fashioned

From my perspective, buying my wife a watch is unbelievably difficult. I stop by about every AD I see when I travel and send pics to my wife. Watches I like and I’m pretty sure she’ll love she doesn’t like. Watches that I think may be a long shot she kind of likes. My wife thinks a lot differently than I do so I’m bringing her for the first time to a couple of ADs in the next two weeks. So as much as you’d like to surprise her, I’ve given up on that philosophy.

She might not be into really expensive stuff (like my wife) - a more affordable luxury couple’s option might be pretty darn cool and be a more convincing scheme for her to get into a fine timepiece. See below- Rolex and GS - I think Cartier has some too...

Twenty~4 watches are a good option.

The 4910 is a classic. A lot of woman like it because it is small, feminine, accented with diamonds, and you don't have to set the time every time you put it on since it is quartz.

The newer 7300 automatic is a nice option if you don't want to bother with changing batteries every couple of years. It is twice the price of the 4910 though. Some women do not care about automatic movement though.

Got my wife a 7018 and she loves it. The new 24 is a pretty good choice esp if you dont mind a pre-own with 20% off the pricelist. Oh, AP ladies with diamond bezel are very nice too if u are ok with quartz.

Like others said, good price point and available to get before Xmas! Nicer watch in person than picture plus you can probably find decent discount on it. We have the 7118 too but the 7300 definitely more feminine. If you can find a 5196, those are nice too

This is a stunning watch in person and I offered to buy my wife one. But she’s adamant that she wants an everose Daytona on Oyster flex. She has a 31mm Oyster Perpetual as her ‘small’ watch’, a 37mm Portofino and a Royal Oak 15450 which are both a touch oversized for her, but now she fancies some gold without being too flashy, which she thinks the OysterFlex offers, and she likes the oversized nature which makes it more casual.

And of course the upside, when we fancy a change we can swap the Oysterflex straps and she can wear my white gold Daytona and I will be able to wear her everose!

Stunning watch indeed. They also do the same watch with fewer diamonds (just less on the sides) for like £12k less. Same movement.

Thanks Shiv, my wife tried the version that you’ve mentioned, it’s also very nice.

My wife actually fell in love with the twenty4 quartz, over the 7118 she tried before. Was a little surprised, though this proves that there are other options than waitlisted pieces if you're not too biased by the hype.
We will probably be adding it to her collection soon.

Would also consider Cartier.
Sometimes they may need to try on the watch even though it can ruin the surprise, it can increase the success.

I commented when we were departing and she reached into the overhead for her luggage. She was receptive to the watch discussion.

The Cartier tank is the definitive womens watch imho. Many variations available. Its a classic and will be in style for another 100 years.

My wife is certainly not into watches like she is into handbags and shoes but she absolutely loves the Patek 24 auto with sunburst grey dial. Never saw her so enamored with a watch with love at first sight before! Probably will pick one up for her on holiday soon. It really is a nice watch when seen in the flesh. The bracelet is something she really liked along with the 36mm size.
