That Omega is hideously ugly.

I flipped my Explorer II - such a great watch. I really wish for a ceramic bezel. I mean they have 4 similar divers - Sub, Deepsea, SeaDweller, Yachtmaster... All different takes on the same functionality. Would love a different fully GMT watch with a rotating ceramic bezel. I don't see why the hinder it.

Exp II is my vote, but I like the GMT function.

I've owned a couple of Seamasters, including the current gen but in black. I sold both. Polar remains in my collection.

Exp II, hands down. I love the touch of orange due to the GMT hand and the "Explorer II" text on the dial.

The SMP300 misses the mark in white, its very photogenic but on the wrist it reminded me of a low end Tag. The bezel just looked off to me. Mine was on rubber and major fail they didnt incorporate a deployant, the tang puts off a cheap vibe. Legibility also suffers with the sword hands.

No Omega hater here, Im a long time fan of POs and older Seamaster.
The reason they come with a traditional tang and buckle is because that's what keeps it compliant as a dive watch. If it came with a deployment from the factory it wouldn't be dive compliant. The boutique will swap it out though for a deployant for free if you ask.

Not sure how you can compare a seamaster to an explorer 2 because the answer is so obvious? Sure the SMP looks nice but I mean craftmanship on the rolex is miles ahead of the omega.. The only downside with the 226570 is perhaps it wears quite big, if you are skinny it will perhaps looks a little odd.

I have a Polar Exp II and previously owned an Omega SMP.
Definitely prefer the Exp II. The main issues I had with the SMP were the hard to read skeleton hands and the unergonomic bezel which was diabolically difficult to get any kind of purchase on. Very hard to move and grip with the scalloped recesses.
Both are equally comfortable on the wrist in my experience.

My blue SMP300 has a blue rubber strap and has become my go to summer daytime pool, Waverunner, poolbar watch. The white dial looks best with a black rubber strap, and I love it too. . I am looking at Polars as a kick around , Vermont, daily "beater". My point is you need both. Get the Omega pre-owned because it's a good (great) value used. Get on the AD list for a new Polar at MSRP!

If you were going to take the EXP 2 off the bracelet and exclusively wear it on a rubber strap vs. the Omega on rubber as a beach / pool watch which would you pick?

(I know the Explorer isn’t marketed as a beach watch but 100m of WR, a screw down crown, and a fixed bezel that can’t get sand underneath, plus a GMT function for when visiting a beach in a different time zone make it a stand out option in my book).

Theres a reason to wear a seamaster but this isn't the one... Get the EXPII, buy a black dial or blue dial seamaster if you want a seamaster.

If you want a seamaster, get the OG pierce brosnan one or the transitional 41mm reference Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale. Leagues better than the 42mm monstrosities they've released

I'm sorry but anyone who says the skeleton hands are "hard to read" on the white dial SMP needs their eyes checked!

That being said I prefer the polar Exp II over the white dial SMP even though I own an SMP and not an Exp II (yet).

I would go explorer, as I don’t like a white dial with black bezel.

I’m on the list for an Explorer II from my AD and am confident they will deliver. I’m just not confident that it will be this year. A white dial is at the top of my list right now so I placed an order for the SMP on rubber and it will be delivered this Wednesday. I have no doubt that I will be able to enjoy both when it’s my turn to receive the Rolex.

I will always pick Explorer over Omega not only because of the white dial but because it's a Rolex, then Omega can come later.

I like ROLEX, I like OMEGA and I like white dial watches. All of my seven Swiss watches are divers. I have a white / orange bezel PLANET OCEAN and a white / black bezel DIVER 300M. While I am not into GMT's I like Polar EXPLORER II's. For me however, SS bezels are more 90's than DIVER 300 M's non-tapered bracelet, which I do not mind, although my white DIVER 300M is on a black OMEGA NATO. Polar EXPLORER II with a black ceramic bezel? I would likely double my ROLEX collection to two. 1. SD43 2. EXPLORER II with black ceramic bezel.

Is that a trick question?

Explorer II for sure. I simply can’t stand the HEV on the Omega and I don’t like the hands much, either.

Kinda apples and oranges in my opinion. I mean one is a dive watch and one is not. I really like the Omega but Im a Rolex guy so I prefer the Explorer if Im not needing a dive watch. For what is worth, as far as Explorers go I prefer the 226570.

I had a blue dial model my friend, but I agree the white dial is more legible. Not a fan of any skeletonised hands, movements etc etc as a personal preference.

This is comparing apples to oranges. The Omega is called Seamaster Diver 300M, not polar.
