Exactly. That is totally unnecessary

You said "It's easier to sell through reputable and trusted sellers in most cases. I have done business for many years with the shop." This reputable shop is responsible for your watch while under their care. They should have no problem paying to repair the watch with a full service to ensure there is no other damage. I would think that you have had this conversation with the shop. What are they saying they will do to repair the damage?

Very unfortunate, hope they pay for the new insert

That is a huge headache. Any chance the shop will buy you out on the watch given this is not a minor mistake and isn't going to be resolved in the short term?

they would say the bezel insert had already cracked before you handed them the watch, you just cant see it. but after it was removed from the bezel for polishing it just broke apart. theres no way to prove when the bezel insert crack so i'm afraid you will need to pay for the replacement. that's why i would never sell my watch as consignment.

Shoddy work you shouldn't have to pay for anything at RSC. While I agree with they ham fisted the removal, most polishers worth their salt will not polish a case with a bezel on it. This is because its next to impossible to polish the side case without the wheel hitting the underside of the bezel (which is brushed). If you've had anyone do a quick polish on your watch while you wait I would welcome you to check all the entire circumference of the underside of the bezel...I would bet at some point you will have a polished run somewhere. Usually these are hidden at the 12 or 6 oclock side so the you cannot distinguish with the naked eye. Quick or fast polishers know this and will turn the bezel 90 degrees to accommodate for the polish wheel bleeding.
